Email notification for software update

Just got this today, thought some of you might be interested to see:

iOS13 comes out next week.

So I'm going to keep my existing iDrive firmware as-is, test it with iOS13, and if it's rock solid as rumored that's it, not going to touch iDrive at all.

But if iOS13 doesn't work well, if I keep having the same old CarPlay connection issues, then its time to give the BMW iDrive update a try as a last resort.

Bottom line is I won't upgrade iDrive at all until it's proven that it doesn't undo the connectivity fix that iOS13 is reported to fix.

Looks like they specifically called out improved Bluetooth and CarPlay connectivity.

I was actually at the dealer for a software update yesterday on a car delivered on Mar 2 with the old 11/2018 original software when I also got the email while the car was being serviced. They updated it to 7.2019.53. Adds a lot of the features like experience, car caring, etc. Time will tell if remote software updates will be activated as the emails says.

First official recognition of issues that I’m privy to so I’m inclined to believe there’s your fix for those with problems.

For whatever reason my week 10 build only occasionally had Apple car play issues and I’m on an old dusty version of Idrive
