How long for production of special order?
I placed an order for an M50i on Sep 4th. Dealer told me their next production slot was Oct 14-Oct 22.
Then I was surprised when on Sep 7th they told me it's already in production. Apparently because it's marked as "customer sold" it got moved up. They gave the info for the site so I could watch for production updates. It's been in the ""Today's the day: your BMW has entered the production queue" since the 7th. Any idea how long it will take to complete production? I've read about people calling to get updates. Do you just call your dealer or is there someone else to call? |

From the day you order to the day it arrives at the dealer about 4-6 weeks. Calling won’t speed up the process so I just check the site twice a day. My order was an edited order that the dealer had in the system so it’s also in production.

I ordered mine Sept 2 and it went into production on Sept 3!! 😊 I called BMW headquarters and was told completion would be today. I just checked online and it is Awaiting Carrier assignment. So I am sure yours will be done soon.
I wonder how long it takes to get to the dealership once it left the factory? |

Once it completes production: - await carrier assignment (which train will it go on, and when will that train leave - told it could take 14 days) - next step is the "vehicle processing center" which is a stop somewhere along the way where they do a final inspection to make sure everything works - from the train it has to be put on a truck to the dealer - dealer installs privacy glass, paint protection, anything else |

I was told the reason for the delay was because of the complexity of my build--which seemed a bit far-fetched as an excuse. My order was back on 8/19. |

I'm sad to hear it could take another month to arrive. My dealer thought maybe a week. So fingers crossed! |

Dealer told me originally I would be 3rd week of October production, and probably receive in November. While production started sooner, it sounds like I still won't get it til late October or early November. |

So my order was put in July 12. Didn’t get a production date until 8/21. It completed production on 9/6 or 7. It cleared all QA and QCs and arrived at the dealership on the 14th. Picking it up this weekend. Hope this helps somewhat. It should be starting to ease up until the holidays.

Looks like I'm a few days behind you. Mine started the assembly line today and has been moving through. Right now it's on Quality Check. Let me know what happens with yours! I'll know mine is a couple days behind |

Love seeing all of these! If we get enough we'll have the whole production queue!
Exciting to see mine finally move. Today I watched it go from production queue through assembly and now into Quality Check. Not sure if it's more painstaking to wait for a car to start production, or to wait for a car that you know is sitting there, but you still can't have it! |
