Thanks for all the insight. I am in the same boat. Sales texted me the screenshot, but can't tell if it's delayed to week 43 from 37 or not. Anybody knows what that means? Thanks in advance.

Looks like I'm in the same timing boat as most of you.
9/3 - ordered (well, existing order was altered with my specs) 9/4 - Scheduled for production 9/5 - Production begins... Today (9/20) - Still "Today's the day". Wish this thing updated properly. |

Mine has left the factory.
Called to ask for updated delivery date. BMW said after completing production it went to the 1st vehicle processing center. Now it's on its way to a 2nd vehicle processing center in Oxnard, CA. Left on 9/20, should arrive there on 10/2. There they inspect the vehicle and if any problems are found they address them there. Otherwise if it passes inspection it is shipped from there to the dealer. Apparently it will still take about 2-3 more weeks to reach the dealer. Then I assume ceramic window tinting and all that will take another day or so. PS - where are all the m50i reviews? I haven't seen anything from the auto journalists about the x7 m50i or the x5 m50i. Are they not interested? Last edited by Jefflikescars; 09-23-2019 at 12:24 PM.. Reason: formatting |

My build, which was scheduled for week 37, is now pushed to week 42. It was first pushed to 38, then 39, then 40, now 42.
I'm getting NO information from my dealer, and the BMW customer service line has no information. On one hand, things happen. On the other, this is getting to be ridiculous. Am I out of line for getting pissed off about this? I feel like I'm getting strung along. |

Hey jefflikescars. Did your online status ever change? You said it was stuck on beginning production forever but did it finally go to in transit? I've been on order received for a week now.

Read post 26. It’s not uncommon to be on the same stage for a week or more.

Placed order to “Today’s the day” - 5 days (apparently I got bumped forward? My dealer was as surprised as I was) “Today’s the day” - 8 or 9 days I think “Assembly” through “Quality Check” - 1 day “Quality check” through “Awaiting Carrier Assignment” - 2 days “Dispatched from factory” - apparently 3 weeks or so from here til I receive. I live in Utah so I guess it goes to California first then back to me. I’ll update with more info as I receive it. Killing me to wait for this thing! I guess I’m the kid that would eat the first marshmallow. |

I think I had the fastest build ever! Ordered Sept 2. Went into the queue Sept 3. Hit the assembly line on Sept 16. Completed Sept 19. Shipped ... arrived at dealership yesterday (live in east coast)!! Going to pick it up this afternoon 🤗
Switching over from MB (had a 2020 GLS on order). I am nervous and very excited! |

When you order literally doesn't matter (aside from the fact that production can't be started before you order).
Dealer's get allocations for specific build weeks. So when you place your order, it's important to understand for what build week the dealer has an allocation; e.g., two orders placed the same day, one for a build week X and the other for X + 4 weeks, will be completed roughly 4-weeks apart despite being ordered on the same day. Now, you may get bumped up, as some have described here due to the order being marked as "sold," but I think it's relatively rare. In summary, some dealers are honorable and give you an allocation for the near future, others are happy to take your deposit and not tell you their allocation isn't for 1 - 2 months. Either way, you should ask what build week their allocation is for and confirm it in writing and when you get the production number. My experience (2020 X7 40i): Order Date - 8/24 Production Begins - 8/26 Production Completion - 9/10 Delivery (PCD) - 9/25 |

I 'm just at a loss about what, if anything, I can do about this. Is it reasonable to expect some form of compensation? If so, what? Am I just SOL? I called the BMW customer service line, and they keep telling me the same thing: they don't have any information but to contact my sales manager. My sales manager keeps saying the same thing--"my contact says next week at the latest." It's all just extremely frustrating to not get clear information regarding a purchase that is roughly $100K. |

I only see a couple options: 1. On principal, you should cancel your order, get your deposit back and find a better dealer. But this isn't easy cause you're back to square one, and I get that you probably want your car now (we've all been there). However, from a long-term vantage point, the dealership doesn't sound like a place I would want to do business with (on-going service, etc.), but it's your call. 2. Just stick it out. Week 42 is next week. It's probably the fastest you could get your car, however, if you're calling the BMW line and they aren't saying your scheduled for production, I'd be nervous. |

Dealer said chassis is building today and doors by the end of the week and should have a VIN by Monday. Salesman also said he has a customer who has had their car for a month and it shows online that it's still waiting to go into production. Someone BSing here.

What's interesting is that mine just went into production today, and it already shows VIN on the BMW website. Wondering if I can now get an insurance quote, just based on the VIN?
