So who here has gotten 10% discount on a straight up cash deal? No finance, no lease.

That's a great deal! Is it a cash deal or financed/leased?

MSRP: $108745
Sale price: $95620 Base MF: 0.00128 (10% + $1000 + $1250) I got the same deal from couple of BMW dealers. I could have pushed to 10.5% but I was comfortable with what I got! I'll apply for BMW CCA rebate which is another 1000 minus 3 yr subscription price. |

Exactly. On a pure cash deal, the dealer doesn't make more money as they do on a typical lease/finance deals.
That's why you see 10% discount on the sale price because the dealer makes $$ on the back end through money factor and other hidden fees.

I got 10% discount plus rebates and incentives at base MF and the residual value set by BMW. Dealers don't make money at base MF. However, the hold backs from manufacturers at this time of the year is where dealers make money. Volume dealers make money on numbers! Bigger numbers... sweeter the hold back is! We all know, dealers are here to make money. How much? Depends on us! They do markup MF as you said if customers aren't aware of current lease rates base on model and year or if their credit history is less than excellent. I was quoted 0.00148 MF for a 2019 X7 50i compared to base MF of 0.00128 last week by one of the dealers. Difference in monthly payment was around $40 which for 3 yrs lease is close to $1500 profit for dealer. Forums like these have made customers smarter and dealers won't BS around if they know we did our HW. Bottom line.... Discounts are real at this time of the year whether it's a cash offer or finance or lease. |

I was quoted $920 a month on the vehicle below. But lease hacker is showing a little less. I must be missing something.
What can be negotiate in a lease beside the purchase price? MSRP: 86,870 Price: 78k 36yrs/15k RV:55% 10k down MF: .00148 or 3.55 ish APR with acquisition fees etc.. I'm at $830 with 9.25 tax rate. price above is before CCA rebate. |

I think you can easily get 11% off so ask for that. I did on an in stock 2020.
Also the MF is marked up. The base is .00128. You should not put money down on a lease because if the car is totaled, you lose it all. You can put MSDs which can lower the base MF but I do not know if CA allows MSDs. You can get back MSDs at end of lease. |

Original was asked to put 5k down I wanted to put more down to lower monthly payment. Overall goal is to lower monthly payment. I will ask about MSD btw: I settled for 10% since this is a non stock vehicle she would have to pull it. It's in transit to the port as we speak. |

Also, and you may already know this, but negotiate sale price BEFORE you let the dealer know you qualify for any rebates (such as loyalty), otherwise they'll include those in the discount. |

Never put money down on a lease. MSDs is a great option to lower the cost but don't put any cash down to reduce the cap cost.

Unfortunately, discount varies across the country and if you live in a big city in California (eg. SF or LA), you won't be able to get the same level of discount as other areas (eg. Minnesota or PA). You need to see it from the dealer's perspective, real estate ain't cheap in California and someone needs to pay the rent.

Well, you should remove the 10K down from your calculation. Also calculate with the MSDs and without using .00113 and .00128.

Ordered our individualized vehicle in Sept and it's waiting for carrier assignment today. GM said it takes 7 days to get on a train, 10 days to port cross country and another 5 to dealership....
Issue: wouldn't be able to take delivery when the car shows up in mid Dec... If I am not wrong, supposedly shld be able to lock the incentives, rates till delivery first days of Jan 2020. Would like to make sure |
