Lightbulb Purchase extra miles

Hey guys. I have a question,
Is it true We can purchase a discounted lease miles at ANY time during the lease or that's just the first 30-days of the term? Credible information preferred.
Thanks.

The option does go away, but very late into the term (somewhere between 90 and 180 days before the end of term I believe). I have 10 months left on one of my cars and can still add mileage at the discounted rate.

Not sure if you went all the way through the process on the site, but you have the option to either pay for the additional mileage in one lump some, or divide it out over the remaining payments as well.

No, I didn't complete the steps yet. By saying "divide it out over the remaining payments as well", do you mean they rollover the total amount into the current monthly payment or...Example:
1000miles/$230 ÷ 36mo.=$6.39/added you the current monthly payment or my math is wrong?

Well you would have paid your first month up front, so you should have 35 months remaining now, but otherwise you are correct.

I was just giving an example, but thanks for the clarification. I wonder now, Is it just one shot purchase, and that button simply disappears or you can keep buying those miles as long it is prior to those 180 days you mentioned earlier? It'll be like a drug-addict then...

I haven't done it myself, but I dont see why they wouldn't let you but more since the rate remains the same.

If you are thinking about buying any, I'd say wait it out till the last year or so since there's no benefit to do it now. You never know what could happen, we might have a pandemic or something and you won't be driving as much. There are also possibilites of the car getting totaled, you needing to trade early, etc., where you wouldn't be able to take advantage of a credit on lease turn-in if you're under mileage, so you would be better off banking what you think the amount would be per month and purchase at the discounted rate later in the term.

Of course, I totally agree with you. I now know that I will definitely enjoy this beauty more than I actually planned. It just makes me a bit nervous because I don't want to miss that "critical" time period at the end of the term. I wish we have a more solid info from the inner BMWFS circle.

I had a '16 750 that was nearing lease end in Dec '18 but the X7 wasn't due to arrive till 4/19. I called BMW FS to buy miles a few weeks before the end of the lease in Dec. I was asked how many miles I wanted and told her I didn't know for sure since it depended on the X7 production schedule. She ended up "locking in" the discounted rate and said when I turn in the sedan, the overage would be calculated and the charge assessed. Sure enough, I was charged the non-discounted rate. One call later, a check of the notes on my account, and I was back at the discounted rate.

From what I remember, you can only buy miles ONLINE up to six months before lease end (then the button disappears). After that you need to call FS and talk to them. I've also received communications from FS (mail/email) which states you can buy up till the day before the end, again by calling.

I bought more miles in the dealer lobby while I was waiting as they prepped deliver on my X7. I did have two months left on the outgoing X5 lease. So you can for sure do it up to two months before lease end.

You can buy miles up until the day before the lease turn-in date. I just did this with my M550i in March.

I had to call a few times and get miles added on a couple times during March....and the last time was the day before lease turn-in.

I'm sure you're right, but I still think it all depends on the dealership. Ours here(Brooklyn) definitely will play the "Oh, we never heard of it"-game.

Then they are morons. It's a BMWFS thing anyways.....you don't go through the individual dealers.
