That’s great news that you are able to set it to the lowest level and it will stay there when you lock the door.I guess that means it has to be in comfort mode.
So Nantucket, you gonna bring your X7 on any of the beaches in ACK? I'm tempted to this summer but afraid of low pro tires in some deep sand. Can't air down really.

There has to be a setting to default to access height when parking. If not maybe if enough people complain they can add it as an update. With 22’s has to be tough on sand/snow etc. Best leave the X7 where most comfortable. In mall/supermarket/soccer practice drop off parking lots. All jokes aside. Without the correct footwear for the job I wouldn’t even think about doing anything crazy with it

LOL,i remember back in the early 90’s when i got my 87 325i convertible stuck in the sand at Daytona Beach.Luckily it was spring break and there were a bunch of people to help me lift the car out of the soft sand and back on to the hard sand where the cars are supposed to drive.I don’t think i will taking my X7 to the beach.Post some pics if you decide to do it.

Those of you who have it... is it worth it? I don't have it but thinking about purchasing it on my next service visit and my wife says it's a gimmick. Any reason to pursue or is she right?

In the two weeks I've had mine it's been sitting in a kitchen drawer .... it's considerably larger to carry around and there isn't a function that I need that I can't do from the regular key. For me it's a gimmick albeit a cool one but I'd rather have had two regular keys.

I have it, not worth it at all, it barely functions, never used as it's huge and sucks to carry around.

I've picked up my car 1 week ago. Display key + 1 regular key + 1 metal key. In my country app doesn't work, as there no communication with car. So, here is some benefits for me:
1. I can check car is locked or not. I don't use comfort entry/exit feature, as I don't fully believe into it. Sometimes with my Toyota I have went back to recheck doors.
2. I can lower the car from a distance for kids easy entry
3. I can see remaining gas mileage, prior to driving

If you know in advance, yes you can lower, but if unexpected or (mostly) leaving next day and just forgot to lower.

Gotcha. I enjoy the feature in our Range Rover SC which automatically lowers the vehicle into "Access Mode" every time you put it in park/shutdown. Would be nice if you could code the X7 to do the same but in the same vein it is not nearly as tall as the RRSC.

Shortly I will resolve it installing electric side step. So, the only usable feature will checking car is locked or not.

I researched those electric running boards pretty hard before I picked up my X7. They are almost plug-n-play and appear to be built pretty well based on the info I could find. If my X7 did not come with OEM running boards, I would have strongly considered these..

After installation I will make full review. 99.9% of info coming from sellers and workshops, almost nothing from real users.

Reg installation, there is 2 types of wiring, but both is plug n play.

Our X7 50i handles the height adjustment as follows:

Parking while in Comfort Mode:
  • Ride height is at the default position (middle position)
  • Select Park and then select the lowest position using the toggle switch
  • Do NOT open any doors until the lowest position is reached
  • Exit and lock the doors
  • Remains at the lowest position until you drive it again

Parking while in Sport Mode:
  • Ride height is at the default position (next to the lowest position)
  • Select Park and then select the lowest position using the toggle switch
  • Do NOT open any doors until the lowest position is reached
  • Exit and lock the doors
  • Remains at the lowest position until you drive it again

If you always lower your X7 to the lowest position after parking, select Sport mode before reaching your garage to lower it one notch to the next to the lowest position. Then after you park you only have one more notch to lower it.

If it's any consolation XC90 does that too
Plus the stuff that's annoying me. "Passenger dimming mirror and rear fog lamps"

You get one display key, one regular key, as noted above.

I've only had it for a few weeks. It's pretty nice. The main feature I use so far is to start the engine and climate control the car before I leave the place I'm leaving (store, home, etc.). You can remote start and do that stuff from the app, but it's a lot easier from the display key.

Don't know if the novelty will wear off, but so far it's pretty cool, and I'm happy to have it.
How long does the display key battery lasted for ?

Seems to last for a while, mine has been sitting for weeks on my table. Gets charged by a usb plug or wifi charging pad or while you drive, there is a charge pad you can put it on.

Reason I asked is that I saw a review by someone doing a retrofit and rating the battery wont hold for more than 1-2 day .
