Had exactly the same issue on my x5 re the sports display on the hud when my x5 was updated to 07/2020.25. Car was updated by the dealer because of an issue with the electric rear seat showing a fault “rear right seat not locked”.
It also broke my surround camera system. Idrive now displays a vertical grey line plus the wrong car displayed |

The "rear seat unlocked" error/fault turned out to be due to a wiring harness that was not routed properly inside the seat back. So every time we adjust the rear seat back, it would mess up/pinch the harness and cause the fault. It took the dealer tech 2 days to figure that out. They finally rerouted it the proper way, put the seat back together, and rest/recalibrated the seat/system. For the other 2 issues I will ask if 7/2020.30 is available and see if it will solve those issues. Better yet, I might wait till the next big software update is out (maybe 11/2020.xx) and use those 2 issues as a reason/excuse to get that big update. |

But I'm on 07.2020.30 not sure it makes a difference. what did the job card say from your dealer when you got the update ? Fully system update? I'm only asking cause brands like Volvo tends to do partial update unless you push them for a total update, not sure the case is the same.

Andy and skyrider
What are the similarities between your vehicles ? Options ? Dealers? Production dates/ batches ? Might be something there worth exploring

Not sure what Andy's build is like. I have a fully loaded 40i except for captains chairs, ambient air, and night vision. I bought from a dealer northwest of Baltimore. My production date on the door sill is 7/20.

But I did hear back from the service manager at my dealer about the issue. Apparently he escalated to BMW and they asked him for a video of the issue. I sent him a video of what my car is doing and he sent them a video of car on his lot that doesn't have this issue for comparison. BMW replied back to him saying that BMW National engineers are aware of the HUD issue and have been working on a fix. They hope to have it available to all dealers soon. Soon could be as early as the end if the month but I wouldn't hold my breath. I am personally going to wait until they have a really big software update before I upgrade my vehicle's software. |

That indeed sounds like good news since they are working on it. And it's very wise to wait for the major updates I'm having issues coding the key fob to close the trunk even after the 07.2020.30 update So 🤞🏻
