Can anyone explain MHD Mboost tome?
Hey everyone, trying to figure out how the hell to use the Mboost option in MHD. I get that it is required if you want to target over 18.5 PSI. Why this isn't included in all the MHD licensing I have already bought is baffling to me, but thats another story.....
I just got my initial tune from Twisted Tuning, but didn't get my question answered as to if i require Mboost or not...I am going to assume yes since i believe the out of the box MHD maps target up to 18psi anyways. So if i purchase it, how the hell do i actually load it? I can't find any documentation on this. In app purchase doesn't seem to work on the new versions of MHD, and i can't even get my android device to log in anymore thanks to whatever the hell MHD did for their 2.0 update. Thankfully my iPhone works still, but again, can't seem to purchase anything in app. THanks |

Response directly from MHD:
"You dont have to do anything, everything is automatic, if you install a cuomst tune from a MHD custom tuner that uses the race code (mBOOST) then it will be applied automatically. If you try to flash such a map without having a MBOOST license then you will get an error that the license is missing " So i guess my Twisted Tuning custom tune doesn't target over 18.5PSI? I havnt had the time to drive the car, do any logging for revisions, etc.at this point, but it loaded and runs, so I assume according to this that the tuner is not targeting more then 18.5PSI |

i ran a ots tune and a custom tune that targeted 21-22 psi and never needed a mboost license until recently when i made a new custom tune targeting over 22psi, not sure how it works or why its needed.

This just happened to me. Trying to flash the same tune I've been running for over a year. I've reflashed the same map for various reasons (change in coils etc.) over the past few months with no issue and all of a sudden I can't flash. It's saying I need the MBoost license - for another $72.
Per my instructions with my Wedge custom tune, I purchased the flasher license only (in addition to the monitoring license I had already purchased when I had my piggy back tune). I was under the impression I wouldn't need anything more - apparently this is not the case. If I had known that I would need to buy multiple items for $70-$100 I would have just gotten the super license in the first place. Now, I can't even tune the car without paying for basically what the super license costs but not having all the features of that. MHD is claiming they 'fixed a bug' but from my position it looks like they are milking more cash out of loyal customers. A month ago I could flash my car, now I can't and I didn't do anything different, they basically just pulled the carpet out from under me. Will be contacting them and updating this further. |

I agree with Vandejm. MHD is just milking us. Unfortunately they have the corner on the market and they know that.
The licenses aren't transferable which is already sub-standard compared to Bootmod3. Maybe this will give BM the push they needed to join the N54 platform. In order for us big turbo guys to have all the MHD tools at your fingertips you must purchase: Flasher License - $115 Monitor License - $80 MBoost - $57 So the total is $252 which is non-transferrable. And that's BEFORE you get a tune. My wedge tune was $450 for one map.

Yea i also paid for the mboost license recently which just seems like a MHD tax. It could actually tell even before flashing my bin that the boost ceiling was raised and asked to buy the license, which i admire.
At least dont have to spend $$ on some tuner.

Yeah, I don't really understand what MHD did either. If you ran a custom tune before that didn't require the special Mboost license......why would they require to buy it now after their new Mboost option addition?
I had to buy the MBoost license several months ago when I loaded up my custom tune that was well over 18.5 psi......I get that, it's always been the case that if you wanted to load up a high boost custom tune, you first needed to buy the additional MBoost license. But I don't understand why the people who never needed the license before....all of a sudden, now they need to buy the MBoost license. Like others have said.....it looks like a way for MHD to just squeeze more money out of people......

You've always needed the license to use MBoost. Nothing change recently other than the code that MHD applied for MBoost, the licensing stayed the same.
I think the confusion comes with the requirement for an MBoost license on scaled tunes. I think at some point MHD made MBoost a requirement for using the three cell boost scaling option so you could have the boost ceiling set to stock but still target above 18.6PSI by fudging the MAP scaling. |
