First pics of my 2023 X7 LCI in Sparkling Copper Metallic / Coffee Extended

So we have the car and possession is 9/10 of the law.

We were not able to do the paperwork due to the stop sale. The dealer says that they are having a hard time confirming that they applied the correct programs.

Once that is figured out we'll get the paperwork done. Running dealer plates for now.

I don't have a lot of first impressions, my wife drove it home (it's our tradition). I am super happy with all of our choices.

I took a pic of the grill because I thought it was interesting that it does not let air through.

I suppose you mean about the stop sale? The dealer is not allowed to sell me the car until they confim that the issues that caused the stop sale are resolved. The resoltuion is a software patch, but my dealer has not been able to confirm the exact patch with BMW. Once they get that sorted, then they can offically sell the car.

Oh man that sucks. I wonder what caused this issue and it's not wide spread. My prod day is the 9th so hopefully it all goes smooth

Do the little squinty lights sparkle on when they come on like the prototypes or do they just plainly turn on?

Didn't notice any sparkle, but I could have missed it

The dealer is not allowed to RELEASE the car if the stop sale has to do with EPA or NHTSA. You need to ask more questions.

I’d love to hear if you have any opinion of the engine/drivetrain. This is the first model to use the new B58.

I'll give more thoughts on the engine and such once I had a chance to drive it more. My wife was impressed with its pep.

Here's a pic of the engine bay. I don't think I've seen too many of those online.

The 4 cross braces stuck out to me. Almost like it was an afterthought. Very simplistic and don't seem to fit with the rest of the car (in my opinion). Anyone have any thoughts on these?

Congrats on the new car, but WHY did you agree to take delivery under such unspecified stop sale circumstances? And why did the dealer agree to let you? Who is insuring the car, and what happens if this unspecified issue causes an accident? BMW doesn't issue stop sale orders because of defective license plate brackets. I appreciate your anxiousness to get the car, but I would never have driven it off the dealer's lot.

There is one outstanding NHTSA safety recall on '23 X7s involving the sunroof possibly operating in the absence of the key fob, and this is likely a software issue. If this is the stop sale issue, your dealer is not permitted to sell, lease or loan the vehicle under any circumstances, and if you are in an accident, regardless of its cause, the "fit is gonna hit the shan" because your vehicle is illegally on the road.

Hope it all works out for you, but I'd be talking to the dealer ASAP.

Totally understand your viewpoint here. Here is my reasoning:

First, as to the stop sale. The dealer stated that the stop sale was their and that it was marked as having a resolution available. The resolution was a software patch. The dealer applied all available software patches to the car yesterday before letting me drive it. The issue (as I understand it) is that the stop sale did not specifically call out what patch fixed the issue and the dealer needed to confirm that before the official sale. So my car is fully patched with all software updates.

As to insurance - technically we are both insuring the car. My current insurance covers me when I am temporarily driving a car that does not belong to me and the dealers insurance covers cars they own. Now, I don't deny that things could get complicated if there is a wreck, that is why I am not going to drive it a bunch. It will sit at home in the garage mostly. No long trips.

Lastly - the dealership had no issues letting me take the car. In fact, it was there idea I take it. I would have been fine leaving it at the dealer. They seem to have most of the risk here. There are liability concerns, reputational concerns, and contractual/legal concerns that they are responsible for following. I don't feel, given my experience with this dealer and their reputation with BMW, that they are acting recklessly in this situation.

Log onto the nhtsa.gov/recalls website and enter your VIN and you can determine if your X7 is affected by this recall and if your vehicle has had the remedy implemented.

Knowing that the dealer installed some software updates that neither of you know anything about shouldn't be especially reassuring. And whatever the stop sale issue that is yet preventing the transaction to complete should be setting off lights and sirens all around you.

Didn’t work for me - pushed my to the BMW website and then said to try back later. Will keep trying.

The 19-22 engine cover just looks cooler too all around, especially with the integrated emblem in the front, vs the new one appears stuck on afterwards. I know it's an engine cover and stupid to even bring this up, but hey, that's what we do.
