I don't think there is a shortage affecting HUD...even Mazda has it. So it's hard to believe BMW will delete it. Maybe the dealer is mistaken as they often are

Brigitte,

You are probably correct, but different HUDs can use different components and a shortage of one of many components can cause a HUD shortage. The fact that Mazda has no HUD shortages doesn't necessarily indicate that BMW doesn't have a problem. I expect BMW5and7 will run this down for us. Glad to hear your Mazda is doing great!!

Ummmm...

Don't believe everything you are told or read here.

HUD is STD on MY 2024 X7 xDr40i, period.

April production orders included.

Exhibit A (ordering guide snippet) and Exhibit B (actual vehicle invoice) to follow.

P.S. I've been a BMW dealer since 1987, BMW forum member since 1997.

Did no one notice that in OP's attachment it also specified IAS as deleted? Does this apply to the 40i only? The full feature/option list later in the same attachment shows IAS as standard on the M60i.

IAS seems pretty important on a vehicle this big.

the ZDH package is no longer avail, almost 100% certain is 40i only.

it only lasted for about two months of production for the 2023s and then was restricted to M60i only and it was likely bottlenecking 60i production.

i got one of the first 2023s and was able to spec ZDH on my 40i. if i had to reorder today i would get an M60i just for the IAS, no question.

Indeed, ZDH (aka Dynamic Handling Package) is on the current Restrictions list. Even though it calls out MY 2023 X7 specifically, it also applies to MY 2024 X7.

I've had two X7s (soon to be three) and never had DHP. The turning radius and handling is just fine to me.

Also less complexity and possibly improved reliability.

Sad to see DHP was taken out to woodshed on the 40i indefinitely. So many had hope it would come back on the MY24.

I am not sure there is anything to run down. Multiple people have orders in with no reports of a problem. If this was an issue, we would have multiple orders impacted and people would know.

And you have a dealer who is the Founder of the oldest BMW forum on the Internet providing objective evidence/irrefutable data.

Does anyone have a real question that I can answer while I'm here?

I'd like to hear more about how the HUD works when you're driving with the Maui Jim's on

Thanks for getting us to the bottom of this!

Have you driven one with DHP? I’ve had 2 X7’s, both V8 with DHP, and I’ve driven one without it. There is an incredible difference IMO.

Oh shit that’s a good one. I love MJ’s but HUD is useless when wearing. Polarized lenses kill it. In BMW, MB, Cadillac…however my Navigator was somewhat legible…better than the rest. Got an answer for that 1987 OG?

Must be due to some sort of optical wizardry!

Not all polarization is the same I suppose..

decoding means remove the coding for aka disabling no dazzle high beam assistance.

Right - meaning that it appears that BMW is now configuring US cars with No Dazzle. That is kind of a big deal. The real question - will they offer this on previous models?

no, they are still disabling it.
decoding no dazzle high beam = disabling no dazzle high beams

Took me time to get back to all of you on this. I have actually puzzled as I did not find any reason or indication that HUD is being put on hold. I hope am right and that am not misleading any of you, but really am not seeing any indication though we BMW is so good in surprising all of us including their internal team.

What I am seeing is that the new ones are actually coming with the new cockpit PLUS HUD, not the opposite.
