Key Fob Behavior
I have two 2006 E90s (one mine, another still in the family) and after I turn the engine off using the Start/Stop button, I have to press the key fob in the slot and it releases.
I recently acquired a 2007 335i E93 and the first thing I noticed is that when I turn the engine off with the Start/Stop button, the key releases from the fob immediately. This is confusing me because out of habit I keep pushing the key into the slot, which is reinserting it. Is this normal behavior for 07+ models? Or is this something that can be coded? I also just noticed that the key for my 330i looks like a Comfort Access key since it has a removable battery, yet the car definitely doesn't have CA. The shell was pretty trashed so I ordered a replacement from amazon and had to make sure I got the correct one. When removing the circuit board to transfer it, I noticed it has the removable battery and not the rechargeable battery attached to the circuit board that the remote should have. I suspect it's an aftermarket key programmed by a locksmith and not a genuine CA key. Now that I think about it when I first got the car I noticed the CAS module wasn't secured properly, so maybe the previous owner removed it to get a new key made. |

This key behavior is annoying me and I had to find a solution. I didn't know what to search for but finally found the answer by searching "key eject":
