I got my brand new X7 2023 less than 3 weeks ago, and then received the dreaded Drivetrain Malfunction error.

The shop says it is a timing fault and they are looking into it.

Is this something we should look into trade assist?

I do not feel comfortable driving a car that has an issue from the start.

Any words of advice?

I think you need to check lemon laws first. Unless the car qualifies or close to be lemon, I don't think they will entertain trade assist. I got the error three times but only went to shop twice. After the last software update everything seems to be fine.
