I would try to get it reflowed or re-soldered first to make sure there isn't a cold solder joint before attempting to completely replace the part.

Also, I just chatted with my electrical engineer buddy, he confirmed that reflowing is a good and easy start, but this could also be a normal circuit operation. He suggested gluing some weight (lead?) to it that could help attenuate the noise.

Hi everyone,
Test drove a 2019 X5 M50i today and upon entering I immediately noticed the sound, later could isolate the source as the AC display (color version). Very glad I found this thread here (or not, because it seems to be a general problem). Any update from anyone? Did you try replacing with a newer part, now it‘s 2024 and maybe the supplier fixed this? Best, Fabian |
