How to stop the car from honking
I have a 23 X7. Both my wife and I have digital keys with our phones and watches. Very often I’ll want to stop somewhere, leave the car running with my wife and child in the back. The car always honks. How do I stop this behavior? I tried turning off “auto lock when walking away” but seems to still do it. Seems like this would be a common use case so maybe I’m doing something wrong. If I turn off the car and activate pre-conditioning to keep air running versus leaving the car on, then the alarm system goes off when she touches any of the controls, which isn’t ideal.

Interesting that it doesn’t recognize the second digital key, as normally if a regular key is in the car (in wife’s purse), it won’t do the honking process when I walk away with the phone as the digital key.
On the older models, you used to be able to code that off so it would no longer honk, but unfortunately you can’t do the same on the LCI. |

Mine only does this when I leave the phone inside.

Same problem here too. Even with the other key in the car...

This is it. I don't understand why they wouldn't allow us to turn that feature off. And a better idea anyway would be to do what my kid's Honda Accord does, which is a quick succession of soft beeps. Not jarring at all. Quick and painless. You hear it and know you left the running car with your fob in your pocket. If a tech or car wash attendant is taking the car and you hear the beeps, you turn around and hand them the fob. And you don't have a piss stain on the front of your pants like you do when you're three feet in front of the X7 and it lays on the horn. That horn is loud!

Below is a screenshot for activating/deactivating the "horn honk" if you lock the vehicle with the engine running:

It's the most annoying part for the car, especially when others are around.
Was standing in a school line, got out to put my kid in the car seat. Walked 2 feet away from the car to meet my kid and the thing starts honking. Needless to say, everyone was looking at me like an idiot. |

I edited my post to include a screenshot that shows the production date for the link to the supported coding parameters for the X7s that can use the app.

Just went through this yesterday with a guy at a dealership. Tried to tell me everything you can code off with bimmercode on the LCI. He told me I had to use expert mode. And, I could disable start/stop by putting everything in sport individual to comfort mode. Mmmm, yeah ok.

I also have a 2025 and it does honk the same way that my 24 X5 did. No matter how many keys (digital or physical) are in the car, if one leaves while the engine is running, it honks

Interesting - I only use the digital key with my iPhone, but I have gotten out at least 3 times with it running and no honk.
Are you using the fob? I have not tried that but will. |
