Alibaba exhaust leak

Hey guys! Not sure if anyone is facing a similar issue, or if I’m describing it correctly, but I seem to notice a very “airy” sound when the exhaust is closed and I’m accelerating. I’m not sure if the exhaust needs to break in, if it’s cause the downlipe, or if it isn’t assembled correctly. I don’t see any leaks and am attaching a video which kinda shows what I mean.

Definitely does not sound right—I haven't heard that hissing sound come out of a muffler before.
You might want to inspect the area/welds around the piping going into the muffler box, although even a small leak probably wouldn't produce such a loud hissing sound. My instinct tells me that something at high pressure is leaking, as I don't think a small exhaust leak somewhere in the midpipe would cause that to happen. Maybe try to get it up on a lift and send a few photos?

Also, which exact Alibaba exhaust is this?

It’s the same one everyone’s been getting, I don’t have the link handy, but I might have to take it to the shop and have them recheck the connections, something might just be loose

Also, looking through the box, the shop did not install this piece of pipe, could that cause an issue?

Hmm, I don’t think exhaust systems send you extra pieces that don’t need to be installed, I could be wrong though, but I’ve never had an extra piece from an aftermarket exhaust system

That is for connecting to an OPF downpipe.

If you are in the US you definitely don’t use that pipe for the install.

I ended up taking the car to a different exhaust shop to verify the install, turns out the sounds are because the cattless downpipe, it’s just the increased airflow I’m hearing. If I get a catted downpipe it would help

Yeah, that's normal for these cars with valves closed. There's probably a small bit of air leaking when it's closed. Just open them up and let it sing!

Sounds a little odd. Are you sure the valves are closing all the way ?
