EBC Brake Pads vs OEM BMW Pads
Greetings all,
I scoured the forums and couldn’t find much info regarding EBC pads on the X7. I have a 2022 XB7 with the big brakes and even though I still have a ton of thickness left on the OEM pads I’m so tired of the constant squeaking (and copious amount of brake dust) that I’m ready to change them out for aftermarket pads. Can anyone chime in with their experience with EBC pads? (RedStuff vs BlueStuff) I know there’s tons of guys on the 3-5 Series forums that use them, but I haven’t heard from X7 owners. Thank you all in advance! |

i would recommend the brembo NAO ceramic pads. OEM fit ( brembo makes the front pads, the NAO pads are the same backers with a ceramic compound and noise dampening pad) 90% less dust and no noise in the almost year i have been running them.
i remember reading somewhere that EBC didnt recommend some of their pad compounds on heavier cars

parts should be:
BMW Disc Brake Pad Set - Front (Ceramic) 34116888460 Brembo Part # P06106N BMW Disc Brake Pad Set - Rear (Ceramic) 34217991043 Brembo Part # P06109N lookup: https://www.brembostoreusa.com/ 2020X7 M50i is what i used- should be the same as the XB7 rock auto has them at very good prices. 135 for front and rear vs list price of 340

Any noticeable decrease in initial stopping power with the NAO pads vs OEM organics? |

the initial bite is less grabby, but i found its smoother stopping... there was a thread where another user commented as well. not lacking in power though see here, near the bottom of the thread https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ght=brembo+NAO

I haven't noticed any difference with the Brembo NAO's. Even if there was a slight difference, I'd much rather enjoy the no-squeal and significantly less brake dust than the OE pads.

Thank you to everyone who chimed in with their suggestions.
I ended up going with Orient330iNYC suggestion of the ceramic Brembos. Planning to replace front and rears in the next couple days. I’ll keep you all posted with my progress and how I feel the NAO compare to semi-metallic OEM squeaky dust throwers. I drive spiritedly so I’ll put them through a torture test for sure. |

An indy would be cheaper, and the install is straightforward with two points 1) bonding the pads in the front to the pistons properly 2) you must engage the parking brake after swapping pads but before touching the brake pedal after winding back the rear calipers and replacing the pads. If you dont, youll trigger a fault that will disable power braking and need an ista brake bleed to clear the fault. Just make sure you engage the parking brake after swapping the rear pads before you touch the brake pedal
