Break service cost

Hi Folks, have my 22 X7 50i for 3 years, 28k miles, service recommends front and real brakes and rotors replacement. Cost is little over $3500. Wondering if that’s the price generally charged. Plus is there any BMW CCA discount? Thank you

Buy what you need and take to an indy shop. Blue M calipers for mine, all hardware was $1100 doing it myself, but was quoted 700 from an indy.

It's not rocket surgery.

Have you inspected/measured the pad thicknesses and rotor conditions?

Thank you all. I was recommended by service advisor. I haven’t seen myself.

Here you go fam:

https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1&postcount=39

You will notice it says out of stock, but it tells you all the correct parts, then go to rock auto . com if it's not in stock on that site separately.

im suspicious at all 4 corners being done at 28K miles unless you do alot of heavy braking. i would check for myself the rotor thickness and pad thickness, im very suspicious its an unnecessary upsell

As mentioned above, ignore their recommendation and either measure them yourself or wait until the sensor tells you that you need them.

You have to ask your dealer if they honor BMW CCA membership discounts. The percentage discounted can vary from location to location. You’ll only know what (if any) if you ask.

Also, once your BMW goes out of warranty….BMW offers value services that cn sometimes be pretty competitive for some of the offerings. You can click the website link and type in your zip code to find which BMW dealerships in your area offer the services. You then can check if you make & model year have any value services offered. Depending on your model…it may or may not offer services…but again, you don’t know until you check.

Given the year of your vehicle it sounds like a brake fluid exchange is coming due. You can actually check/reset service intervals with BimmerLink. I have a 2022 and found that it’s showing 4% life left in the fluid.

I found out that Costco offers 15% off vehicle service at participating garages. One of them was actually a BMW dealership, the other an independent. BMW wanted $350, indy is $150 before the discount.

Brake Fluid is a CBS item based on time, not usage. The date for change is show in iDrive. The first change is three years and then every two after that.

Both our X7s are under their maintenance plus break and rotor replacement; unfortunately under that program BMW uses I think 3mm thickness before they replace. If you are not, they use 6mm...

ie. your dealer will try and get people to pay for brakes when they are not needed.

'21 m50i here, I changed my first pads around 32-33K miles. I can maybe see your pads being changed at 28K miles but I am highly dubious of the rotors at that mileage. Currently I am on my original rotors (68K miles). 2nd round of pads being currently being changed as I type.
