2025 X7 how to set different ambient lighting for different driving mode?

Hi Pros,

How to set different ambient lighting color for different driving mode. I set it for default comfort mode but when I move to Echo pro it changes to blue and when I switch to sports it changes to to red, by default. I want to change the color for sports and echo pro mode.

Please suggest how to do this? Any youtube video will be helpful.

Thank You

Hello,

I think I can answer your question down below, if I am understanding it correctly!

As of now, the X5/X6/X7/XM equipped with iDrive 8 and iDrive8.5 can have the Ambient Lighting color be separated from the Driving Mode! Other BMW models such as the iX do not have this option, and so changing to Sport mode will change the Ambient Lighting color to Red in the iX, rather you like it or not!

As mentioned above, the Ambient Lighting color and the driving modes can be separated from one another!

"All Apps" --> "Interior Lighting" --> "Lighting Effects" --> DISABLE the "Driving Mode" setting

If done correctly, the Ambient Lighting color will stay the same, regardless of which driving mode you are using
(e.g., If the Ambient Lighting color is set to "Lime" in "Comfort" mode, then you can switch to "Sport" mode and the Ambient Lighting color will remain as "Lime")

Again, this setting/feature is only present in the X5/X6/X7/XM that is (are) equipped with iDrive 8 and iDrive 8.5
NOTE: PRE-LCI models (or models with iDrive 7) do not have this feature/setting

All of this being said, I hope that I was able to answer your question! I do like how they give you the option to separate the two, but many are not even aware of this setting/feature!

Before my cousin took delivery of her 2025 X7 - M60i, I disabled that ^ setting because I knew she ain't changing the Ambient Lighting color - later I told her about this and she said "Well I am glad that you did it; one less thing I have to worry about finding" lol

Please let me (us) know if you have any additional questions/comments/concerns!

Best,
Cameron

Thank you for the explanation, appreciate your help. By doing some search I guess there is no way to set different custom color for different driving mode. Yes, I can detach the ambiance color change based on driving mode but detaching will keep the same color for different driving mode.
I guess there are some app which can be used to code the system, but I am not sure that voids the default warranty.

Thank You
