massaging seats

I have a 2020 x7 M50i and I have a problem with the drivers seat. The bottom cushion, that you sit on, does not massage. The back cushion works fine. The passenger side works as it should. The drivers seat bottom has no movement in all settings. Any ideas?

You can select the massage modes when you activate the massage seats. The mode options should show on the iDrive screen when you press the button. You probbaly selected the back massage so that's why you don't feel anything in the butt.

No, I have selected the hip mode and whole body modes and it does not work on the drivers seat bottom. It does work on the passenger seat.

Then you need to go to the dealership.

It feels like mine has stronger bubble on the left side of the seat bottom. Or maybe my butt is more sensitive there I need to compare to the passenger side, I guess.

I had an issue at the beginning on my first X7, 2 of the pockets were rubbing together and one seemed like it would barely get inflated. It took a couple of trips because the pump was also making some noise, but they were able to re-seat the mat the pockets all lie on and make me whole again without having to wait for parts or anything (I was worried they were going to poke around, give up, and order a new seat).

It looks like I may have the same issue. Only left pocket on the driver's seat bottom seems to inflate fully. I hear the pump (barely) but don't feel the right pocket inflating.

Checked the passenger seat - it works as expected. So I guess I need to schedule a service visit.

How long did it take for them to troubleshoot? I guess I can speed it up by suggesting to check the mat alignment.

On the second trip (after replacing the pump), they were able to do it the same day. I did have to go back down after dropping it off and show the service manager what was going on as he couldn’t notice it on his own. From that point, I probably could have waited, but mine was in the back of the seat so it might be accessed easier.

Thanks! My pump seems to be OK, so hopefully they would be able to solve it the same day.

Dropped my car off at the service today. I told them to look at the mat and maybe try to reseat it prior to doing anything more substantial - let's see what they say. Hopefully it's a quick fix.

Funny - the service advisor thought that the NFC key card only works if my phone is nearby. I hope their techs are more knowledgeable...

So, happy to report that the service did an exceptional job and fixed it today. Kudos to unfoundnemo for the tip - the air cushions were out of alignment. They realigned them and everything works as expected now.

OBD II Think Diagnostic tool

You can actuate all of the cushions in the seat through the OBD II. Then do a seat standardization reset for each individual seat. A great device to have. Actuating all of the air cushions seems to have made mine more comfortable as well with the reset.

Although “code” is in the name…that is not the function of Bimmercode. It does NOT do diagnostics or reset/clear fault codes. Bimmercode is an app for making different selections or operating parameters of systems/modules that are already programmed into the vehicle.

See info below from the Bimmercode.app website that explains the app and its sister app Bimmerlink.
