Sorry another tyre question
I've been offered a good price for these new summer tyres to replace my original Pirelli P Zeros.
4 x 22" ACCELERA 2 X 315/30ZR22 107W + 2 X 275/35ZR22 104Y EXTRA LOAD TYRES These are not run flats and I don't have a spare tyre in case of a puncture. Is this an issue if I bought a repair kit? Do many of you risk this approach? Anyone have Accelera tyres - I have heard of them but never used them. The tyre profile is smaller 30 rather than 35 and 35 rather than 40. Will I notice any reduced ride quality or am I prone to increase alloy damage if I hit potholes? Any other comments would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

You don't want those, as they're not the same diameter and will beat up on the already problematic transfer case. If your transfer case goes, BMW will deny warranty coverage and point at your tires.
Lots of people here ditch the RFT tires because they're too expensive, too heavy, and don't perform as well overall. I just keep tire repair kits and a portable inflator in our cars. It's not that hard to fix flats on the side of the road, you just need to be prepared. Flashlight to see easier, pliers and/or multi-tool to pull out nail/screw/whatever, patch kit with rubber cement goop, knife to trim down the patch, and a portable inflator. Just avoiding Bridgestone tires solves most of the problems (poor puncture resistance!) |

There's not much selection in tires in the 22" staggered OE setup size, but going with unequal tire diameters and a tire made in Indonesia (especially given BMW's xfer case problems) just to save a few bucks is a really bad idea. If 22" means everything to you, buy another set of Pirellis, or Continentals or Michelins, and suck it up on the price and treadwear. When price and life become priorities, look into a 20" square setup.

Just replaced my summer Pzero 22's with Continental DWS06 Plus tires. Huge improvement in ride quality and noise. Worth every penny, and they will outlast the Pzeros by a wide margin. Like other members have said, tires are very important. It makes little sense to compromise on a vehicle such as this.

Thanks guys for your responses. I knew it was too good to be true, price wise, and agree that budgeting on new tyres is not a wise move.
My winter set up are non runflats and I have not had issues yet with not having a spare in the trunk. I'll keep looking for the right ones, but I get the impression to stick with Pirellis, Michelins and Continentals.
