X7 Blind spot Warning Beep/Sound Alert?

We are new to BMW with a new to us 2023 x7 x40i. Love all the tech, but not sure if we have the option to audibly alert us to a car in the blind spot. The small orange triangle is present in the mirror, but we're used to a beep when highway driving, blinker on and another car is in the blindspot. Any tips to turn this on? Still learning all the settings and may have overlooked it?

thanks.

No beep, but in addition to the yellow triangle, you can set the steering wheel to vibrate, and can also control the vibration intensity. Plus the vibration itself makes a low buzzing sound.

My 2018 Mazda CX5 had blind spot detector "signal" in the HUD (little icon in right or left corner of speedometer)

I dont understand why the Germans can not add such a basic feature (this can easily be done in software).

Exactly! This BMW beeps and flashes at any other thing, but can't alert me more when I'm about to sideswipe some 350z zipping around my right side?

As long as you have DAP, in that case you should get audio and visual alerts as well as steering intervention when the side collision avoidance kicks in.

To prevent “side-swiping” before changing lanes…I LOOK at the side mirror to see if any vehicles are there…and I also SIGNAL to change lanes. If a vehicle is in the blind spot and it’s not safe to change lanes…I SEE a VISUAL alert as well as get a vibration in the steering wheel to let me know it is NOT safe to change lanes. Why do we need an additional 3rd audible alert? Is it really necessary…or just a desire for an additional warning?

Pretty much. Always look in the mirror. The visual warning is just an extra bonus, but why it does not show up in the HUD like it did in the Mazda is way beyond me, seems like it is the most logical place to put it.
Vibration/Audio are overkill and are also dangerous. I am firmly against any kind of steering wheel intervention, and it sucks that most of new cars come with it and it can not be removed. Just waiting for something like this to be remotely activated by "hackers" in the "always on the internet connected cars" (And i am sure the solution will be more digital ID, lol)

I wouldn't want a blind spot alert to flash in the HUD, potentially taking my eyes from the collision. If I'm looking at my mirror to change lanes, and I get a bright flash from the blind spot monitor on the glass itself, I'm going to cancel the lane change and double check/turn my head for further information.

In addition to a warning indicator in the side view mirror, my 2013 Mercedes ML350 had a loud audible tone when using the turn signal into a lane where there is a vehicle in the blind spot. It was quite useful and saved me a few times. I surely miss it as the X7 is much bigger.

I dunno if I would want an audible.....if driving and using the light as reference point on often it would beep.

If you haven't done it, swap out the US mirror to the Euro Blind Spot Mirrors. 1st --mods- I do on all new bimmers.... usually order the mirrors so I have on hand during production.

Mazda implementation did not flash.
Basically they had a little icon show up to either the right side of the speedometer (in the HUD) or left. Same exact idea as the triangle lighting up in the mirrors, only a little icon in the HUD. (Heads up display)
