Some are $$$$. Are there any reasonably priced ones?

Got ceramic coating and tint a few days ago. I went with Modesta BC-04 and Suntek Evolve 50% all around. Loved the glassy look of the ceramic coating, but thanks to the weather gods, it lasted for only a few hours.
And to my utter frustration, the supposedly reputable shop ended up pulling out the passenger-side speaker assembly. A quick trip back to the shop fixed it the following Monday, but I was not a happy person during the intervening weekend. Last edited by Sat Pat; 05-14-2024 at 10:05 PM.. |

To directly answer your question, yes, they do get in the way if you don’t use them. I’m 5’11”, so not tall enough to cleanly step away without my calves touching them when getting out. But I have quickly adapted to the extra width by stepping on the running board when getting in and out. IMO, as parents, we make much bigger compromises for our kids - incorporating an extra step for a few years while entering/exiting is a very mild inconvenience by comparison! I hope that by the time we’re ready to replace this car, my kids won’t need the extra step anymore. |

Stealth hitch tested with OneUp rack and eMTB. Works like a charm. Railing corners to the trailhead, not a lick of trouble. Very happy with install.

Today, used buddies rack to take both our bikes to China Camp park to ride for a couple hours. Drove like a dream, even with high head/cross winds. I’ll say, on the hilly terrain of the Bay Area, in comfort/adaptive, it doesn’t want to go past 85mph with out digging in the throttle. Might try to customize sport mode next time. I’m sure on open highway such as I5 it’ll be fine. It did manage 80 without issue and handles smoothly.

5% is a reasonable margin of error but it also can mean it’s 1-1.5mpg optimistic. |

Yup…I’ve been able to hit over “30mpgs” also. Not bad for a big vehicle.

You might be right - I don't know why but there's a discrepancy in the mpg calculation as well as the distance driven shown by the app v/s the car. We did take a break for dinner, but that was less than an hour. In my Audis, if you resume driving within two hours, it counts as the same trip. Don't know what counts as a new trip for BMW.

I’ve found the trip function on the car looks for round trip most often. So if I leave the house, make multiple stops, and return home- it’s a single trip. The app tracks trips by each activation of the ignition + greater than x distance.

Thanks, it's interesting how different manufacturers approach the same function differently. There's no right way or wrong way with either approach.

I generally leave my dash board showing real time MPG/average and in the background set it to refueling so that I know MPG of each tank of fuel. In town mostly, I’m seeing 20. Mixed driving, 21, pure highway driving 24-25. It’s the first car where their EPA rating matches real world driving. (40i) |
