When I was an iPhone user I made heavy use of the touch screen. While using an android phone I never user the touch screen (android auto not available for my MY)
So I can see many people getting by without the touchscreen. I've been monitoring my local dealerships X7 inventory on a weekly basis and its been scarce up until now. When inventory comes up it usually shows as 'in transit' for a while before it becomes available. Now a few suddenly instantly popped up without that status but have the touch screen delete. I suspect these are custom orders that refused delivery. Maybe these will get snatched up fast but it could be an opportunity for some extra negotiation due to the missing baseline feature/future resale value impact. |

declined my order which is at dealership already, and placed a new order(estimated production week late December).
I wouldn't be surprised if BMW will just make new cars with whatever screens they have, and have new batches of touchless screens. If my second try gets unlucky again I'll probably just get something else and never look back again. Thanks to this forum I'm much better informed. I'd be furious if I stomach the delivery and find out new cars with touchscreen again. |

Went to the dealer today to build an M50i, one of the first things the salesman said to me was that he wouldn't know if it would have touchscreen until it was delivered. I really just don't get it, such a basic feature that BMW can't obtain. I'll be holding off a while, not spending 110k+ on a vehicle without the basic touchscreen capability, whether I'd use it or not. Very disappointed

I am in the same boat with my X5 up for replacement. X7 is needed for the stuff we are hauling everywhere.
From a company/supplier perspective, I can understand why they need to keep things moving - otherwise, the economy starts seizing up with capital locked up in unfinished vehicles. From a customer perspective, I hate this outcome. So, the choice is to play roulette and see if a touchscreen shows up, wait until the supply situation stabilizes and then order with the risk the supply situation deteriorates further or risk a higher price point with less content given the inflationary pressures. This is one big mess with customers on the losing side. Good luck to everyone.

No longer an X7 owner, just traded it in. However, still like to browse as I may come back one day. They started dropping options in the 2021 model year. Night vision, RSE, and maybe 1-2 other things.
We were about to order an X5 to replace the X7, but dealer could not guarantee tooth 100% the touchscreen would be included. Option was to wait and see when it arrives, then decline if it was absent. We didn’t want to take that chance and then be delayed again by ordering another. If BMW would have offered more of a credit, like around $2500, and if the dealer didn’t insist on selling for MSRP, maybe we would have accepted the X5. So we jumped over to Audi. Audi at this time doesn’t have issues sourcing touchscreens, just wireless chargers and hitches. |

I picked up my X7 almost 2 weeks ago and unfortunately one of the touch screen deletions. Very annoyed at BMW if new builds are coming with touch-screen as they made it seem like it would be long term issue. Has anyone heard back from BMW corporate about future retro?
