It's possible the M5 CS gets rated at around 580 ft-lb of torque at the engine while actually producing 635 ft-lb at the wheels. BMW also underrates hp on the M5C where their bhp rating is actually the amount of what's getting produced at the wheels.

So more likely the M5 CS will be producing something like 640whp/635wtq. Getting rated by BMW somewhere around 640bhp/580btq. But we all know it should be 700bhp! C'mon BMW, join the 700 club.
They just won't join 700HP club yet.

I really don't care because mine F90 M5 that I tuned had 850HP

I guess more for track, I would love to see lose 200lbs
Might as well bring CSL

That would be cool, but I just don't see the necessities of hardcore M5

I am curious as to which model this is.
First will be the new Jaguar XJ and J-Pace.

Batteries are only part of the equation.

JLR is said to be soon buying their eMotors from BMW.

Regardless, they unfortunately have an absolutely horrible reputation for reliability.

M5CS just think of the weight saving potential with 4 doors than than a coupes 2.

Extra 2 doors worth a fabric door opener

I know this was an attempt at humor, but I figure it’s worth reminding everyone that we already know how the interior of a four door CS differs from a two door CS model - we have the M3 CS as a guide for that. Among other changes, it gets the standard non-lightweight door cards from the non-CS M3. In fact, since there is no coupe model that shares any interior parts with an 5er/M5, I’d expect the M5 CS interior to differ from the standard M5 in color only, or possibly some upholstery/trim material variation. I would not expect any unique, light-weighted parts.

I guess we all wish to shred as much weight as possible.

I hope they drop those super heavy seats, get lighter wheels/ brakes and more CFP and be around low 4K lbs

I can't weight to see final product

M5 CS?

Always a favorite read and a big fan of the CS recipe but an M5 CS?!? How would that work? I can understand the M8 CS but don’t see the point of a bare bones, no slack suspension bat winged, luxury saloon (Sedan).

Don’t get me wrong, I would to see a 700 BHP version of the beloved M5 but it should also do the cushy bits as well and not have ribbons for door handles.

Perhaps a little CSL education.

BMW currently has the following race going models in their lineup.... and all racing in North America currently.

M8 GTE
M4 GT4
M240 racing - soon to be replaced by an M2 racing

M8 GTE a car designed for the track first and then the production car came out.

M4 GT4- currently at end of life with new model coming ?

M2 racing - currently being designed on the track ...

Sure seems to me a slam dunk to roll out roadgoing models of the same as M8 CSL, M4 CSL, and M2. CSL.

Unless BMW simply wants to allow Porsche , Mercedes and Audi to take all the race on Sunday and drive on Monday ////marketing and sales.
M6 GT3 will be supported until 2022 and likely replaced by the upcoming M4 GT3 unless they can't get a waiver for CLAR. If that's the case I expect M4 will stay GT4 and this special M only platform will form the basis of the GT3 much like the AMG GT and R8 are unique platforms.

Slightly related to this, BMW now has confirmed the 48V mild hybrid system (starting) in the 520d from November in today's PR about the november "Modellpflegemaßnahmen".

Finally. Those cars are out there already, even listed in the ETK, I was really confused by the absence of any PR.
