If it was a color or interior issue it wouldn’t even get through assembly I don’t think. Although I’ve got Merino Bay Blue/Extended Tartuffo and I haven’t seen any builds yet with either of those options I have to think it’s something that requires troubleshooting, like software or an electrical issue where something isn’t working properly and they need a smaller part rather than trying to reinstall something wholesale. I just waited 6 mos for my wife’s telluride and although I was antsy about it I knew how much time it would take and had zero visibility into the process so it didn’t bother me. Here, I thought it would be really quick and there’s enough visibility that when something like this crops up, it triggers me a bit when there’s a lack of transparency into the issue causing the delay. I know I shouldn’t be concerned, but I can’t help but think there’s going to something wrong with the car.

I think it is a timing issue (I have already posted about it)...maybe they discovered an error that occurred at a specific period of time. So they are holding those cars that were being built during that time until they fix that error. |

based on a post from the g05 forums that called the genius line (they are also seeing cars stuck in QC), it may be a missing or damaged part(s). since its all just in time, they need to order the part from the supplier then install and send on its way. they wouldnt pull parts from other cars being assembled.
https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...60&postcount=8 a software/programming issue they wouldnt hold the car at the plant. like with the few weeks of non touchscreen center displays last year, they ship with a stop sale and have it flashed by the dealer. it could be as simple as a batch of defective trim. or visors. or anything really. just in time means they dont keep stocks of spare parts onsite. i wouldnt worry too much about getting a lemon because of this. its just frustrating to be in limbo.

I thought the car gets to QC after the production is complete. If there were missing/damaged parts... they could not have completed the production before sending the cars to QC?!

basically the line stops for nothing. production is complete when the car is released to distribution; on the my garage page, the step after qc is final assembly. Quality Check -> Final Assembly -> Ready For Transport

First BMW order here! Our X7M60i has been stuck in QC since our production date 8/2. Has anyone with 8/2 or prior that was also “stuck” moved on? Getting fairly nervous about our rate lock and aftermarket PPF appointment scheduled. Thanks so much!

it may not even be a damaged part, it could be a supplier was late with, for example sun visors. instead of holding production, just run it and install later for the missing parts.

Called Genius this AM, car still stuck in QC and he said "usually that means they are waiting on a part" but couldn't provide further details than that. Also when I asked how long it'll be after it finished QC before delivery he said "2-3 weeks with trucking delays" which I can hardly believe based on everyone's experience so far that have at least received their car at the dealer. 🤷🏻

I understand that there are missing parts necessary to complete these builds. But why cars with later production dates are going into assembly, being completed, and delivered before the completion of cars with earlier production dates is beyond me.

If you figure this out let GM, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota know as well Happens wither everyone. There are so many variables.

I get it though, they want to keep the assembly line operating and so all parts on hand are allocated to the -new- builds so they can get them completed start-to-finish. They then need a surplus of materials to finish the incomplete vehicles that have sidelined in the parking lot. |

no bins of parts, so they need to order replacements from the supplier. most mfrs do this, but most dont do custom orders like bmw does, so most people dont experience this. they get the car off the lot so they never see the delays. its crappy for the end user, but it'll get fixed and sent on its way.

Just moved to "Awaiting Carrier Assignment"!!! Was in QC for a full 7 days!
Interesting note, the prodDate used to be 8/1, now that it's done being assembled and past QA, the prod date switched to 8/8. |

Mine is "awaiting carrier assignment" also. Maybe about 5 days in QC? I did not check it daily.
