Yeah, this is the thing that I still think looks weird. But overall I think it’s good looking. I saw an older X1 (I think) with the two side logos, it seems like this isn’t exactly new for BMW. Personally not a fan.

I can see this futuristic design trend catching on after it sinks in a bit.

Or maybe it won’t age well and it will always look bad.

Only time will tell…

It looks like the hood is open. Awful sketch. And the sketch made it production. What a joke.
Horrible looking cart...

Honestly I like how it looks and I think its pretty cool. But I for the life of me cant understand why BMW keeps showing the car with those ugly wheels, the 922M wheels make the XM look so much better. I agree the XM emblem looks odd, but the car looks killer in black sapphire metallic with 922M wheels.

It’s … something. I sure hope the X7/5 don’t inherit this design language in the future.

Looks excellent in white.

It's a powerful ultra-premium PHEV SUV. They'll sell very well.

Does it bother anyone else that the badge on the back just doesn't look like it belongs, where it's placed?

hey BMW (headquarters not the assistant):

just because you can sell it doesn't mean you should make it

next level isn't always complimentary

when you start thinking that it looks less hideous in darker colors... well...

I do have a genuine question though: how is that you can't make a generation that performs amazingly and looks good while doing it. Go all out and phuk up your entire line up including 3/X3 5/X5, do it you've got what it takes.

From the front or side perspective, it's the best looking car for me But the rear of the car destroy it..
I think I would remove the M batch and put a BMW logo/sticker on the tailgate by myself.

Almost the exact same size as the X7. Same wheelbase, but other dimensions compared to a X7 M60i are a bit different.

Length / Width / Height for the M60i are 203.6 / 78.7 / 72.2 and for the XM are at 201.2 / 78.9 / 69.1

Getting used to the XM

When i first saw the pictures and videos of the XM i also thought it was absolutely hideous. Actually this was also what i thought about the M3 and M2 and IX models. Now i have been owning a M3 for nearly 2 years and i love the car. And i have a IX M60 on order....

And believe it or not : i am starting to like the XM. It has taken some time. More time than with the M3. But the car is also not yet available. By the time it is available i am sure i have grown to it and maybe one day i will actually buy one.

I also saw a new 7 series 2 weeks ago on the road. Very impressive car. Not beautiful but certainly impressive.

I don't know what it is with BMW's designs : they certainly have a way of designing cars for the future. Not liked when introduced but growing on people until they start liking it.

The XM is a piece of art maybe......

Totally agree with you ^

I think we can say that about any car and any brand. I remember many years ago I loved Opel Astra H and when Opel Astra J was shown I thought "it's awful, Opel messed up". Some time passed and my opinion changed, I started to like the new version more than the previous one.

I’ve always subscribed to the theory that great automotive design immediately makes the predecessor seem dated and old. I haven’t seen that happen a lot at BMW lately.
