The current odometer reading is approximately 6,500 miles, so it’s unlikely that anyone would mention any wear and tear. This problem began immediately after the first service and the new software update.

I’m currently running iDrive version 03/2026.30.

This issue started with the previous dealer iDrive update, which I believe was 11/2025.60. I’ve been experiencing drive terrain malfunction and the update was supposed to fix this, but there are no reported faulty parts, except for the error message that appears in the logs.
Just a thought... Have you checked your tire pressure to confirm they are even left-to-right and also match the recommended values (as listed on the label on the driver's door jamb)?

Thanks for the suggestion

That’s something I check weekly by habit, specially since we’ve been having crazy temperature changes week to week, jumps from high 90’s to mid sixties in few days.

2024 X7 steering corection above 50mph

Hi,

I just got my used 24 X7, 45000mil.
Steering feels like its binding above 50mph, only in straight line.

You should be able to drive 60-70 mph and have one finger on the steering. There is no way i can do that, needs constant correction because of the tight/binding feeling.
Could be a software issue or steering rack in my opinion.
Nothing to do with tires , pressure, alignment or suspension/control arm bushings
Have brand new tires , non run flats.
Taking to dealer and will keep you posted

I’m not familiar with the version of software in the 24 X7, but with ID7 in the 22 X7, you can set the amount of auto steering that is meant to keep you in your lane from soft to medium to aggressive. Perhaps look into that on your user manual and see if you can set that to soft or off.

Perhaps that’s all that’s going on?! The car is just fighting you to keep you in your lane. Perhaps the prior owner had that set to aggressive.

You aren't alone a lot of people notice this with the newer steering racks. It’s almost always the Lane Departure / Steering Assistant fighting your natural driving line. The cameras can be overly sensitive, making the wheel feel nervous. Try disabling the steering intervention in your settings. If the tracking still feels off after that, definitely take it back to the dealer since factory alignments can absolutely be out of spec on delivery.
