that situation should fall under the early termination clause. you could ask bmwfs as well.

This is 100% true. I had an unpaid $350 fee on my account when I gave back the 7 since it was returned a few months before our X7 came in. They kept extending until the new BMWFS account was set up then they waived it.

As for the original thread I made, my dealer actually just took money off the MSRP to cover the equity I had in my lease return. It worked out better that way for me since there was no paperwork and it lowered the taxes, it pretty much covered my individual paint.

I turned my low mileage M4 in six months early when I got an X5M. Instead of paying money (like normal times) to turn in early, I got nearly 10K applied to the X5M. This was last September when the market for used cars was crazy, but it was super easy. Just like turning in one lease for another. You just need to talk to the dealer.
