What type of errors or codes do you get with IATs that are too high?
I recently had issues with ignition/combustion related codes during an HPDE. I'm not sure if those were the result of using OEM spark plugs (Bosch) and coil packs ... or the result of heat issues due to sharing the car with my GF who was running in a different run group. Ambient temperatures were around 85F+. |

you wont get any error unless you have a major leak or the intercooler in completely disconnected from one of the sides

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1487406 So now you are saying that the HD intercoolers should indeed have 20 fins per inch .... if so ... why does mine only have 5 fins per inch unless you meant "the race HD is still the densest available" ... but at 4 times the fin density of the Street HD?

"Our Race intercooler is currently the largest intercooler available for this platform and also features the highest density fin pack available @ about 20 fins per inch" Street is 16 assuming the street is 5 inches

I promise I'm not trying to be an asshole, but this is where I'm constantly thrown off in threads where vrsf is doing replies. You have a quote that is substantially different than what i quoted. I have the street hd core and only have 5 fins per inch (note that in some earlier threads vrsf counted a fin as each V). I can go out and measure now if necessary

I just installed the updated 5in HD street IC in place of their previous 5in street IC and the new HD core looks much denser then the previous version. I will be logging it this weekend. I also had to bend the tabs flat since mine came bent up. If I had more time and the right tools i would have reshaped then instead of just bending flat but I was working in a tight schedule window

13 sounds about right for the first gen HD.
Due to our recent innovations in production and negotiations with our suppliers, all future F30 FMIC's will now receive a higher density fin pack at no additional cost. |

The fin density revision + keeping products at the same price is a game changer.
Great job VRSF
