Dark color without the gold trim is the only execution that even semi works

Lol the gold trimmings/wheels give strong Midnight Club 3 vibes.

Only a matter of a couple months before I start seeing these crawling around west LA or Glendale. The natural habitat of the douchebag BMW clan.

Anyone else surprised the rotors aren't cross drilled? Maybe they are holding that out for the red label version? For a top tier M car, I am disappointed they aren't included.

I always viewed the crossed drilled as one of the last visual differences between a full M and a M "light" (such as M8 vs M850). The exterior differences seem to get eroded every model year (recently the mirror caps for example).

I’m sure it drives great and the interior is nice. But, it looks like a suppository.

The XM design is growing on me. As is the new 7 series. And it is not yet even available to buy yet.

BMW is one of the most succesfull car brands with thousands of people surely working on the XM project. I do also think that they know the design is a bit shocking. And still they decided to launch it like this. I have no doubt they know what they are doing. And as i stated above i myself am already starting to accept it.

I bought a M3 in 2021 even when i did not like the design at first. And now i love it. And not only me. You would not believe how often i get praise for my M3. I also did not like the IX when introduced. But i ordered a IX M60......

Maybe in 2 years i will order a XM.....

Exactly.

My age will probably be reflected - but time after time again, it's the same old pattern. When magazines were hitting the stands back in the late 90s/early 2000's, you would've thought Chris Bangle was the devil with all the feedback his designs were getting. Now you can almost argue that his designs were iconic.

Hell, at one point - people were complaining about how big the E39 was when that was new. Although I know design and size are two different things.

Now I am not defending the design of the XM. I have my thoughts. But we will have to digest this look whether we like it or not. The things are still gonna sale. Just as the new 7 series is and will. We are in the early 2020's and car design will only be similar to this here on out (interesting proportions, oversized elements, etc.). There will be a adaptation curve with all auto manufacturer designs going forward.
