'18 M2 has a backup camera, so I back into or pull through into spots that are ideally away from big SUVs, minivans, etc. My legs work, so I don't mind a bit of a longer walk to keep my car from getting dinged.

I almost always drive in and back out, backing into a spot has 3 cars close to me and backing out has virtually nothing. I can do both but don't see the point in backing in and just do the one that is easier. If I had a fear of backing out into an aisle and cars hitting me I don't see how they wouldn't hit me as I back in either.
Edit - Also add that 99% of the time I pull in to the spot and back out of the spot without any "try again" issues. From what I have seen the percentages doing it right in one shot when backing in are far lower.

Went to a baseball game last night and parked in a garage of an office building nearby. I backed into a single spot that was between a wall and support pillar (in other words: nobody could park next to me). I'd guess this meant I was in the "aisle" for maybe 10 seconds longer than I would have been had I swung wide and shot right into the space. I don't feel bad about making the guy behind me wait for 10 seconds, and he didn't seem too concerned about it either.
After the game, there were lines of cars stacked up all trying to get out of the single exit gate (and into traffic). When there was an opening, I just pulled right out and got into line. All the people who had pulled in nose-first held up the line for 20-30 seconds or more backing out into traffic and doing a 8-point shuffle because there wasn't enough room. Oh, and one of them put a nice dent in the car next to them when they turned their wheel too early trying to maneuver out backwards. But please go on about how backing in is never appropriate. |

99% of the time, I'll reverse into a spot or into the garage at home/parking garage at work, primarily because I don't want to be labelled as *that* guy with the car with the loud brakes. 😔

Always have been, and always will continue to be, one to back into spots. Except for situations where the lots are specifically designed for you to pull in.

So much safer to clear the spot visually and then back into it. It is then much easier, safer, and quicker to just pull right out when you leave.

before i was back in the spots.. then i realized there is no need all the time.. backing on can be useless for some spots cause parking head first can be more practical.. though i know not for all of you guys the things im saying, in Europe roads and spots are much tighter..

Reverse park most of the time except when grocery getting since packing the trunk is easier when the ass is out. I do then hate having to reverse out of a spot when surrounded by SUVs because seeing is more difficult, even with all the rear cross traffic technology these days.

I don't do it often at all. Usually the only time is when I go to a Yankee or Giants game, concert. A quick getaway out of a spot can save a lot of time at the exit funnel jam. I don't see the need in a normal lot.
