Enjoy the car
Haven’t driven at night. I do recall reading the lights are coded down to less strength in the US.

The Navigation is pretty awesome. Augmented reality on the turns. I’ll upload a pic later tonight.

I have driven a bit at night (really early morning). The lights are nice and bright. One thing I noticed is some dead space that shows up when brights are on. It not anything that henders the view, its just noticable. They seem very comprable to the 22 GLS 450 I drove for a bit.

The auto dim feature was off when I started driving. I had a hum dinger of a time figuring out how to turn it on. Its on the turn signal stalk. Its one of the side buttons. Its easy to see in the day, but impossible to find in the dark if you don't know what you are looking for.

Beautiful! Part of me wishes I would have waited two more months to get the 23 but I got the 22 instead. Love the color!

While the 48V system I think manifests itself most obviously in start/stop, it also has other net benefits. For example, I've witnessed that just starting the car is effortless. You don't hear a starter, you don't feel the natural starter, you just have this effortless, motionless and silent start and then hear the awesome V8 rumble. It's refreshing, it's so fast and smooth to start the car.

Also, the 48V system is capable of delivering a temporary instant torque boost. It allegedly helps mitigate turbo lag a bit. I've only driven like 10 miles, I can't say I feel turbo lag, but I haven't gone WOT either.

To your other point, too early to say I'd order again unequivocally as I've driven <10 miles. This weekend I'll get some wheel time and have a better report. We evaluated MANY SUVs to buy, once you narrow down our requirements, I really don't think there's anything else we'd order, so gun to head or if the car was stolen and I had to get a replacement, yes I'd order the SAME car today!
Well, alright then. Ordered one this afternoon! Brooklyn Grey. I got a week 36 production week, three weeks from now, basically!

BMW of South Austin had one in 112 I modified. Easy.

I enjoy all of your information and reviews! I ordered mine with the 755M style Jet black wheels.

Ah, that's a shame for you all in the states. Living in the countryside of deepest darkest England I need all the illumination I can get, and I always used to think that BMW lights were inferior to Land Rover for example, hopefully they've fixed this by moving to the matrix system.

So three times when I leave my neighborhood and hit a major road, the Assistance Driving prompts me to enable it for auto drive. It’s a very long audible alert. I can’t figure out how to get that solicitation to turn off.

Also, I let the car auto drive out of my garage. I didn’t use the recorded path. The car did a pretty good job. I filmed a video, I’ll upload later.

I do have a recorded path to and was prompted by the car when I started it. With that, I didn’t have to use brake or gas, but mid way through the back put, I aborted and then reparked the car so I could film it. That canceled out the memory and the car wouldn’t let me use recorded path so I just used vanilla backout assistance. That requires use of gas and brakes. It did a fine job, it has a different path out of my driveway facing me the opposite way down the street that I’d like though, haha.

Here's an example photo. Basically 10 or so seconds before you get to a turn, it shows this. It also did it properly through a Target parking lot. I'll upload a video and post shortly:

Dropped the car off for window tinting, sharing so you can see the dynamics of this color in sun versus not.

I have to imagine it's standard on all and just a Nav feature. Perhaps it's part of Driver Assistance, but honestly it's purely visual and doesn't add to any "Assist". I'd safely assume all LCIs have it regardless of config!

Auto Start/Stop Update. I drove the car to drop it off for tint this morning. The weather was nice so Auto Start/Stop was in full effect. I did feel it one time (out of probably a dozen), but it was still so subtle. I know people HATE this feature, and I need to disclaim that I may not be the right audience to comment as we ran it for 6.5 years on our XC90 and while it's very noticeable on that car, it never bothered us. However, it's a night and day difference with this car and the Volvo. I don't have a reference point for a pre-LCI non-48V start/stop, so wait for others, but I did just barely feel it on one start this morning. It was about 10% as impactful/eventful as our Volvo was, so still very subtle.

This does bring up a question, I did observe that while coasting, the engine did cut out while I was still at reasonable speed (like 10-15 mph). This is typical of hybrid cars. I should advise that I only observed this because the dashboard RPMs crashed to 0 and the "READY" white word came up (indicating the engine is off but ready to go). I couldn't feel a thing. The car was also indicating "Charging Battery" which is also typical of hybrids. My question is, beyond the basic deceleration and battery charging (which isn't very aggressive), is there ANY brake blending going on, meaning light brake inputs are not using the friction brakes but rather increasing the energy harvesting? I ask because my Volvo does that, and with the weight of the X7 and cost of brakes, that'd honestly be a very worthwhile feature.

You ask, I deliver. Sport Pro is really more exciting with real time HP/TQ, but this configuration has more going on.

Here's a short video of it. It surprised me as this was the first time I used Nav. Bonus is that once I hit the street you can hear what is the rumble and sound from a casual acceleration with the V8:

Most of my trips during the week are running errands and taking my kid to school within 5 miles from home as I work from home and don't commute. I'm seeing 11-12 mpg is these conditions while driving either in Comfort or Eco Pro. I've seen up to 22 mpg on longer freeway trips.
I'm not feeling any idle/creep on battery alone, meaning I don't think the car starts rolling off this system, I really think it's mostly for temporary power boost and the start/stop system. The EPA noted a 1mpg city improvement, not sure if that's solely from auto start/stop, the modifications to the S68 or something else.

I'm trying NOT to watch the MPG screens, but I turn them on, and you get punished in this car doing stop light to stop light. My neighborhood has hills too during that stop light to stop light. I do find once you're just cruising on a road at 30-45 or even on the highway up to 70 (haven't gone higher) the MPG seems decent.

I drove to my son's school yesterday, exclusively neighborhood driving, many stop signs. The car reported 13 mpg on that round-trip which included a parking lot and only 4 total miles. I feel like a similar trip in our Volvo XC90 would've netted like 17.

Last night I drove home on a 10 mile drive of which 5 miles was highway, 5 was neighborhood including a mostly uphill trip into my neighborhood. I averaged 17 on that. I was in the 20s on the highway part, it fell down on the last miles which were stop signs and uphill. I'd imagine I'd get 21-22'ish in my XC90.

This morning I drove to the tint place, mostly downhill to start, then 5 miles on the highway. I averaged 19. I imagine I'd average 23-24 in my XC90.

So on the whole, compared with a 40i or non-V8 3rd row moderately efficient engine, I think you're paying 4 mpg across the board.

It is fun to tell people it's a "hybrid", but set expectations low. Consider it an arcade game every time you hear the V8. Insert dollar into machine to floor it.
