I actually like it. x50d getting a reported 40mpg and 0-60 in just over 5 seconds? ...then you get inside and it looks like THAT. I'll take one.

While the grill is HUGE I also think it's the design of kidneys and the history of them being smaller that makes it look even bigger than they are... Take a look at the grill of a Mercedes S-Class, Audi Q5/7 and others and they have even bigger grills - far bigger - but the Audi single frame has looked like this for a long time - same with Merc... maybe we get used to this I don't know - but this car would have looked GREAT with 50% less tall kidneys... LOVE the headlights...

Isn't this a 6-seater?!
Also I'm guessing the cockpit is identical to the G05?

I recently sold my 2016 X5M for a loaded 2019 Range Rover V8. Its a fine car, but there's a laundry list of things that I miss from the BMW (not the least of which is the tech). If the X7 matches in refinement, it's going to be really tempting.
Which tech is missed?

Car Play being a this-week add to the RR line up (via charged software update) improves RR materially.

But the complaints are two fold: first, tragic stability, literally bug after bug (or as I've come to appreciate, 'quirks'). Second, ancient tech. Touch-screen, non-intuitive layout, odd-nested functionality.

Btw - and hats off to @jason for fostering a real community - I did a comparison write up on the RR forum (X5M vs. RR) that was both flattering and honest about both cars and it was deleted by mods. I think there's a lot of 'perception management' by JLR. Spend enough time on those forums and you see the threads pop-up, then vanish. Makes 'doing your research' harder than it would be for any other make.

BMW owners (at least I did) take for granted the investment BMW makes in iDrive. It's by a mile better.

Now, I largely knew that going in (though the 2018-19 was supposed to be a big upgrade, IMHO it's mostly nicer plastic/bigger screens). All together, the RR is a better 'riding' car, 6mm acoustic glass, etc etc. Which is what I wanted for my family hauler.

My weekend toy/board wagon is a fully swapped E46 S54/M3 wagon.

Front row legroom is a joke also, not even 40 inches.
You should get a Tahoe, Escalade or Navigator.

I really don't like that two-tone interior. It reminds me of a 90's import tuner trend where people used to paint their interiors. It looks really cheap! I'm sure if the colors didn't clash as much, I would feel differently.

Why? The GLS, Q7 and XC90 all fit the bill if the X7 doesn't. I think the 11.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the 3rd row is on the smaller side when the others have 16, 14.8 and 15.8 respectively.

It looks much better than I've expected, bossy and timeless. The big grill somehow fits the car quite good.

Sure, there may be some parts which could be done "better", but I actually can't name a certain part of the car which really despleases me. For example the new 3 series and X4 are looking nice from certain angles, but I hate the taillights (so much that it could be a deal-breaker for me), while I think the new Z4 is nice as well, but has "strange" headlights.

The Volvo is nice, but it is just not in this class at all.

Definitely, the standard sensatec really makes the X7 a class leader.

Exactly. This sums it all up.
The press release states that the middle row can be moved 5.7 inches fore-aft, so depending on what they use as their baseline measurement, you could have nearly 6 more inches than the stated legroom.
