Yeah, at this point I expected how ugly everything else would be, but the back seat upholstery execution is probably the most jarring for me. I don't know what they were going for, but it looks unfinished. Like a cheap velvet cover that doesn't fit over the seats right. It really does look like something you'd pick up on Amazon to put your dog on so your back seat doesn't get ruined.
It's pretty much guaranteed that this will not make it to the production model, so it means little. But as a concept vehicle pointing to the future production model, really not sure what BMW was going for there.

YES, finally someone said it, this looks x10000 better then the IX, it's not beautiful in annnnnyway way and doesn't look BMW at ALLL but they have made this design language that started with the g22 4 series work. I think (and hope) that just like the g42 2 series, it grows on people and the other models normalize it. I most of all hope that the next gen G70 7 series looks good with this design language, cause it will most likely look like a sedan version of this. Cant wait for 7 series renders now

What is this Klingon Design philosophy? Good, bad, or indifferent- damn sure can’t say it’s not a bold design. Like others have mentioned, I am interested in seeing what the final production model looks like.

In the latest interview with Markus Flasch (outgoing Geschäftsführer BMW M GmbH - NOT a CEO, more like an MD - but German companies don't quite understand American corporate titles) he hints that BMW M is aiming at the top end SUV market - e.g. URUS and the likes. So I expect this to be above 200.000 EUR - thus not quite the usual BMW crowd I guess…

I'm still having trouble picking up my jaw, it fell down that long.
Makes my E36 look like the most beautiful car ever made.

In my opinion, it doesn't match the craftsmanship and detail put into anywhere else on the car. I don't like much about this car at all to be honest, but the rear seat and floor mat just stuck out at me as a step far below the rest.

All the explanation about the details of the design is pure BS...it's like they create something completely ugly and after they create a narrative about the failed design...anyway the interior, especially the rear is...I have no words to explain it...

Ignoring design (which is mostly pretty terrible, except for some very small details and the wheels), I'm so disappointed that this was the ever so hyped standalone M car we were waiting for. Wtf bmw??!!
If this is priced to compete with the Urus I'd laugh. Newsflash: No one who wants an Urus will even think about buying this, just purely based on the badge. Once the Ferrari SUV hits the market it's game over for this thing, dead in the water amongst its supposed competition. Now that I think about, what market is this M schoolbus for? |

Nobody is going to be cross-shopping this with an Urus or Ferrari SUV.

This is without a doubt a controversial and opinion dividing design. With that said there are some design elements that I really like.
I’m picking up some Infinity FX vibes from the DRL’s. One thing that I can’t get over though is the bulkiness of the thing! Why on earth would you go for chunky and bulk over something that’s sleek and elegant? I mean look at the wheel arches, even the 23 inch wheels inside them look small! |
