Interestingly enough... I've learned that not only were the laser lights cancelled (I knew that would happen) but also the gesture controls were eliminated from my build.
Dealer states that it was a parts constraint with the supplier.
Was pretty funny watching my kids try to make it work before we noticed the credit on the window sticker...

How can they do that? That is standard on all models. All x5s come with that I thought.

Not that I'll probably use it. . But I think I would tell them they need to add it at the dealership when you can get it. How will some of us waiting get it if you don't have it?

Moreover, "track my BMW" in my bmw account shows "rear manual window shades" listed in Premium package and not "electric." Is that a mistake or I am not going to get power side window shades?

Oh damn. That better not be the case.

I am seeing it too, but hoping it's just a coding mistake. The configuration still shows electric for the Prem Pack.

Hopefully just a coding mistake but after seeing the post about missing gesture control, it feels like it doesn't matter what the my bmw account says. I have heard about MB doing this to custom orders too.

That's sad that they took it off, but in reality you'll probably not really need it. The only gesture that gets much use in ours is the volume control, and that's mostly just a gimmick. I have at least 3 other ways to do that. The function I'd like to use more (mute) is rarely recognized, which kind of defeats its purpose. Navigating home is easily accomplished via voice, but I can't think of very many times I've needed directions to my house. I can't even remember what the other gesture is at the moment...
Then there's all the times we've activated some functions inadvertently while carrying on normal conversations (I know, talk with your mouth, not your hands) or trying to point out things outside the vehicle or on the control screen. Is that common for anybody else?

I understand your frustration but as someone who has both options I don't think you're missing much. First, the laser lights are dumbed-down for the US market. I get that they look cool but function just about the same as standard LED lights. As for gesture control, it's cool to show your family and friends at first but in time it can be annoying, especially when it accidentally mutes the sound or changes stations when all you were doing was talking with your hands. I recently disabled all gesture controls. If I were to order another X7, I could easily live without either option.

I will certainly live without the laser lights and gesture controls. My wife drives the X7 on a daily basis and on the way home from dinner last night she commented how great the headlights were on it. She didn't know that we didn't get the lasers. I agree 100% with the gesture controls being gimmicky. Like I mentioned above, my kids were the ones looking for it. We did get a $190 credit for the gesture controls but did not get anything for the lasers. We did get the power shades too.

I think you guys will be ok. Mine 100% has power shades. It says manual on the tracker though too.

Correct, it was on the original build and then replaced with this a week before delivery
