Is the stitching on your steering wheel white, or red and blue? Also, do you have any m stripes on your seatbelts? Thanks.

Steering wheel stiching is red, white and blue, proper ///M style. The seatbelts however are pure black

U235. Loving all the write ups and videos. I'm awaiting a 40i ( your car's weaker brother) next month so extremely glad to see what the '23 x7 has to offer.

Welp, 98 miles on the ODO. I was able to clear it and it went away, but I bet it'll be back. Probably just a sensor replacement needed:

Thanks, if it comes back, I'll use that one!

UPDATE: Scratch that, at $40, I'll stick to my generic, at least while it's under warranty =P

you can also get ISTA+ (dealership software) from the coding forums on bimmerfest. that an an obd ethernet cable will give you full diag. sorta free aside from the cable, and basically the same diag software the dealership uses.

i use it because my dealers service dept doesn't have my full confidence... when my X3 was in for a software recall, they didnt finish the test plan and set the model. my surround view camera had a 7 series as the 3d model. which made parking weird. they had no idea over the phone what was wrong and wanted me to bring it back to reprogram.
hooked up my laptop and ISTA and scanned for errors, it told me what was wrong and walked me through fixing it.

i also had an issue where they didnt follow procedure for the microfilter replacement and killed the flow for my a/c by knocking the air flow flap out of position. had to take apart the dash and manually flip the flap and then use ISTA to reinitialize the motor.
(you can guess i love DIY)

and yes, i am going to be looking for a replacement service dept

X7 Ordered

I ordered a MBB yesterday with a coffee interior and carbon fiber trim and having some second thoughts on the interior color and trim. Thoughts on this combo vs doing fineline black wood and doing a black interior. Would love the input!

Mine is MBB with Tartufo and carbon fiber. I’m sure the coffee will look fine too. Black interior on this car definitely looks good, as evidenced by OP’s pics. I just like the brown interior personally, and have always loved the carbon fiber look. Not sure how the build looks with the darker brown but I liked it with the Tartufo.

Rims are done, and I also blacked out the rear emblems. Apologies in advance but it rained today, and there's rain coming again right now, so couldn't properly wash the car:

Still getting used to it. It took almost a week for the rims, so really haven't driven it enough.

A couple gripes thus far:

- Turning the volume using the nob seems to take forever. Like turning it doesn't register very much change in volume, it's hard to get it to raise/lower volume quickly. The buttons on the steering wheel are also incrementally slow. On the flip side, gesture controls are too aggressive. One volume gesture raises/lowers the volume notably. I guess you use gesture to get you close to where you want, then other controls to dial it in. Humbly, it could use more refinement in the sensitivity.

- I feel like there should be more instrument cluster customization. Like it's impossible to get MPG read out unless you're on the trip screen which is otherwise boring. It'd be nice if you could get instantaneous MPG and trip MPG in a more permanent position

Those are some pretty nit-picky things all things considered.

Excuse me while I find some Kleenex.

Ok, looks tremendous. Love the non-gloss rims. They did a great job. Blacked out decals are a must too. That chrome strip though man…think there’s a way to do something about that? Maybe some black hockey tape

Actually thinking a red strip across would look pretty cool too. Connect the taillights.

This is basically my build but with the stock 22s coming black from the factory. How did you black out your emblems? And, are you finding it difficult to keep MBB clean? I have a black sapphire metallic X5 now that gets dirty the instant I clean it.

Looks great! Where’d you get the black M60i emblem? We want to black out ours too but couldn’t find them online. Did they powder coat/paint them w your wheels? Thanks!

Yes painted satin black. The emblems were removed and 3M taped and reapplied in the same spot.

Thanks for the inspiration! Just ordered my 23 X7 M60 in MBB this afternoon after seeing your pics and an X5M MBB in my showroom. Opted for the Ivory interior and silver ash trim combo on the inside and the black 22 wheels. the only option I wasn't crazy about was the drivers assist package as I tend to turn off all this stuff in my other cars-is this something I should be considering?

Silver Ash is my favorite interior trim by a long shot, I just didn't think it worked as well with black interior, and we (mostly my wife) wanted black interior. I'm envious of your build for sure.

These cars deserve black rims in M-Sport trim, it's a shame I couldn't get All Seasons with black rims, so I'm out of pocket to make that combo work; shame on you BMW. Your's is going to look AWESOME and I'd have done the black 22s if it weren't for the need for our annual trek to Colorado in the winter and once a year ice storm. I am happy with the look of the 21s, dare I saw I like the look of the 754M in black better than the 22 option, and I definitely prefer the satin finish, but I'm bitter I had to pay out of pocket to make this happen.

I'm quite un-enamored with Drivers Assist. For a 2023 model, and at this price point, it leaves some to be desired. Honestly, our 2016 XC90 Pilot Assist II appears on initial testing to be superior. My 2018 Tesla with Enhanced Auto-pilot was definitely superior. I had low expectations of this package, but I must say, those low expectations are barely if not met. I've yet to get lane change assist to work. Lane keep works, but honestly, intelligent cruise control is enough for me and I should've passed on this package. Having had Enhanced Auto Pilot on a Tesla and Pilot Assist II on a Volvo (which I feel are already superior), I should've already known that monitoring these systems takes more effort than outright driving. That said, I haven't had enough time with it, and I felt I'd regret not having it at some point, so I checked the box, but hindsight, I'd have pocketed that $1,700 or gone with leather dashboard and glass controls instead. I've heard Cadillac's Super Cruise is the only worthwhile system (maybe Tesla but I felt Tesla was going to kill me).

I'll come back in a year and give a proper verdict, but the 3 miles I used it thus far, it felt inferior to my 2016 Volvo tech...

I have a question about Sirius on this car. I feel like everytime I flip channels, I get the beginning of a song rather than plugged into the actual song in real-time. As a subscriber of multiple streaming services (Apple Music, Google Music) and an almost 2 decade XM/Sirius subscriber (since 2003), something seems different about this Sirius integration. With exception of some rarer stations, I feel like every time I switch channels I get the tail end of a song and bridge or DJ intro of a new song. At face value that sounds cool, but the one thing I like about Sirius versus my streaming services is the feeling that it's live/human/DJ content. Maybe this is coincidental, but I must've flipped through 100 Sirius presets over the last days and it seems each time I change stations, I'm queued up for the beginning of a song. Perhaps the car is queuing all the content or maybe it's using the modem versus live satellite feed or maybe Sirius has some special capability to make it more like a streaming service. I don't know, but it's bewildering, and I can't say I'm a fan of this. I also find the time from switching channels to audio being produced is lengthier than on my other vehicles with XM/Sirius. Like it takes a full second for sound to emit between changes where on other cars it's almost immediate.

It rained today, the car needs a bath, but we have more rain coming. In the week we drove the car before dropping it off for the rim black out, I felt it looked super clean. Compared to my black Volvo that seemingly is dirty within 5 minutes of being washed, MBB doesn't seem hard to keep "clean".
