We’ll be picking up our X7 in March some time. We are thinking of an extended warranty as we’ll on this for a while. There have been a few posts with prices out there for this and forget who has posted what. Would be curious what your person is able to do with rates on these so I can compare to what others have posted and what our dealer will offer.

I would suggest to start shopping in March. Price changes all the time.

good question. Some how I don't see a value in extending warranty since my current warranty ends Aug 2024.

Hello. I have a 2020 X7 with 45,000 miles. I just bought it out from lease (I never do that). I planned on turning it back in but the market for the new cars was bad. Since I decided to keep the car, I would probably want to buy the extended warranty. My question is if I buy the warranty and then trade the car in a year or so, is the warranty cost prorated back? I’m afraid of the cost to fix things. So far the major things have been the dash completely going out and most recently the front right air strut went bad. Miscellaneous other items in between. Thanks in advance.

What is the cost for tire and wheel insurance? I assume those are not included in the Ultimate Care +. Also how many of you think that $3400 for 2 years of additional maintenance is a good deal, normally how could you even spend that amount on maintenance in a 2 year period?

I would also welcome any other indications on current pricing as I’ll be taking delivery shortly. I want to start at my dealer before calling others, though want to know what to negotiate down to. I’m also curious for folks who passed on the extended warranty at the time of of purchase and shopped for it later- how much did the price change? I understand you can extend the warranty any time up until it runs out, though am curious how much this goes up each year that you wait (sort of like how model prices seem to increase each year). Finally- for those who’ve had these for a bit and have had them serviced- how well priced are the CarePlus plans based on the actual costs of the serivices provided? Thanks for any (updated) insights on this. I will look into the warranty in year 4. |

I've heard that if you buy the plan remotely from a California-based dealership then the CA law applies. You can cancel and get a refund - even if you didn't buy/register/operate your car in CA. I've also heard of people exploiting this system. Say you need new brakes & rotors at 30k miles. That's really expensive with the M-Sport brakes. You can buy Ultimate Care, get the brakes replaced under UC, then immediately cancel the plan and get a prorated refund for practically the entire UC purchase price. Obviously unethical. But legal. |

You can also add brake coverage to the complementary plan (without extending the duration) for $700 MSRP. Also see post #4 and 7 here: https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1918597 Note, my service cost estimates in post #7 are not accurate, those are from a few minutes of searching online to try to get a rough idea of what the costs would be. I don't actually know. Plan options: - UC Scheduled: extend complementary 3yr/36k maintenance plan (no brakes) to 5yr/75k - UC+: add brakes to the complementary 3/36 maintenance - UC+1: extend *and* and brakes to 4/50 - UC+2: extend *and* cover brakes to 5/75 - UC+3: extend *and* cover brakes to 6/100 - UC+4: extend *and* cover brakes to 7/125 UC Scheduled for $900 (MSRP) is a good deal, I think. It doesn't cover brakes but covers all other maintenance till 5/75. UC+ for $700 (MSRP) is a good deal *if* your brakes are going to wear out within 3/36. You can buy these maintenance plans for the same price any time up until the complementary plan expires at 3/36 (I think, not 100% absolutely sure), so there's no need to buy UC+ early if you're considering buying it. Wait until your car says you need brakes, if that happens before 3/36 then buy UC+ for $700 to get it covered. If your car never tells you that it needs new brakes, then don't buy it and save the $700. Getting UC+1 early is a horrible deal unless you know your brakes are going to go out after 3yrs/36k but before 4yrs/50k. Compared to buying just UC+, you're paying $1400 extra (MSRP, excluding discounts) for 1 oil change and the extra 1yr/14k miles of brake coverage. A better option would be to check your brakes as you're approaching the expiration of the 3/36 complementary plan. If your brake pads and rotors are getting close to the end of their life, then you can buy UC+1 at that time before the 3/36 expires. Comparing UC Scheduled and UC+2, you're paying $2600 extra just to get brake coverage for the first 75k miles. It's only good if you know your brakes will fail after 3/36k, otherwise you'd be better off getting UC+ and UC Scheduled. Another way to look at it, compared to buying both UC+ and UC Scheduled, with UC+2 you're paying $1900 extra for brake coverage in the period between 3/36 and 5/75. UC+2 seems decent to me... a much better deal than UC+1. Compared to UC+1, you're paying just $500 extra for another oil change and an extra 1yr/25k miles of brake coverage. UC+3 and +4 seem underwhelming but it all comes down to brake timing since that's the big expense. With their higher price and duration, the time value of money also starts to come into play :) This is all assuming you have M-Sport brakes, those are expensive to replace and don't last very long, but I believe the standard brakes are cheaper and perhaps also more durable. If you have standard brakes just get UC Scheduled for $900 (MSRP) and ignore everything else. Last edited by PinkNinja400Guy; 02-15-2023 at 08:49 PM.. |

I would like to share an excellent experience working with Ben to get BMW platinum extended warranty for my X7. He was very responsive. Price was very good and in fact he beat the competitor by a lot. It was an overall pleasant experience. If anyone is looking to purchase a BMW Extended Service Warranty or BMW Ultimate Care, I highly recommend contacting him at 9253387118.

Have seen a few posts talking about great rates on these plans- though no details about what they actually are. Would be really helpful to see what folks are getting these days. I’m doing PCD in March and want careplus and an extended warranty. I know the warranty could wait- though we’ll own the car for a while and given the number of posts about issues- we want the extra warranty. I also wonder if the cost for the extended warranty will go up if we wait.
Would really appreciate some updated prices (forget if it was this thread or another that had some prices from a while ago). Thanks in advance for any insight. |

A bunch of 5 series guys have been talking about Route 66 extended warranties. The prices are low and there are posts about them actually paying. Only sold through credit unions. You can contact Route 66 to find out which CU in your area sells them. I do not think it’s necessary to finance the car with the CU to get the warranty, but you may need to open an account with like $25 or something. Congrats on the new car! We love our X7. It’s not the most fun to drive that I’ve had, but it’s easily the all around best.

I'm a happy client as well from Ben at BMW. They have posted prices in this thread and Ben beat all of them for me, so you should have your answer there. Looks like Deanmax7 had a great experience as well. I suggest you give him a call if you want to buy warranty at the lowest price, unless you have no intention of buying but want to see what everyone else paid lol.

Below was the last set of prices I saw from someone and am trying to understand if these are still good deals or if folks are beating them. I’d be eying the 84/75k warranty and the 84/125 careplus (assuming careplus doesn’t offer a lower mileage option for the 84). Thx. I go by JC for your info. I just like to refer Ben at BMW because he saved me lots of money and is a solid dude who is very knowledgeable. I'm sure you have done the same for people you've enjoyed in the past.
