Also will decoding stay even after software updates? Or need to be decoded each time the software is updated? |

r33_RGSport, who does the coding, told me it would have to be coded again if you get a software update. |

I don't think this is an option for the laser lights, at least I was told I couldn't code it on the laser lights. Has anyone been able to do that? I had it on my previous car and it worked very well. Was cool to drive with it at night.

r33_RGSport coded a bunch of options for me. Due to a hardware failure, my system was re-flashed. I lost everything except anti-dazzle, that was unaffected by the new software. |

If the modified fa was written to the car and vo coded then the coding would persist post software upgrade. This is a good thing unless bmw decide to compare your modified fa with stock vin for any reason. On balance highly unlikely. If anti dazzle was fdl coded then it would be overwritten if the target ECU were programmed with new istep. |

That's good to hear. I was holding off on having r33_RGSport code mine until when my car gets the 07/2020 update.

Interesting. That's the first I've heard of something that was coded, that did not disappear during a software update. Good to know.

Coding Anti-Dazzle doesn't void your warranty. Ben @ RG Sport Hi Ben, Thanks. I assume that once the dealer or an OTA update happens I will need to have it coded again. Would that be correct? Yes, correct. Ben @ RG Sport |

I realize that is what Ben is saying, and he coded mine, but I have had two updates (OTA & Dealer Forced) and neither one affected anti-dazzle.
Maybe I just got lucky. |

I know you didn't lose the coding but I would like to hear from others that have had the same experience as you. |

It will be interesting to see if anyone has anit-dazzle coded on 07/2020.xx and gets an update later. If the coding sticks after that update then I'm all in! |

Anti-dazzle I'm almost 90% sure it's gone, but I only drove it once at night. And I didn't see those additional lightened spots like I used to. And I was paying attention for that.

The only reason you'd lose coding on a specific module is if that module was included in the overall update. This is why for 07/2020 you lost things like ASD-off but didn't lose some of your other changes like turning off the volume pop-over display

1) upgrade doesn't touch a coded ECU. This is only likely with a minor upgrade e.g. 07/2020.25 to 07/2020.60. Major branch upgrades usually do a full car program and recode. Not necessarily every ECU will be programmed, but all the one's coders care about will be. 2) VO coding used, and the modified FA was written to the car In these 2 scenarios the coding will 'stick'. Doesn't guarantee it will still have the same effect with newer software, but the coding will persist. ANY other scenario and the coding will be wiped during an i-step upgrade, whether dealer delivered or OTA. |

Ben did recode the other features each time, but even he confirmed as I confirmed that the ANTIDAZZLE was NOT affected by the software updates. He did NOT recode that part. He did that part once and done. |
