The black and blue leather together just doesn't look good...they should have stuck with one or the other. If the dealers want full MSRP for this then totally not worth it...no reason to pay 10% premium on a vehicle that has 0 chance of becoming a collector item one day.

I didn't consider it given they would have charged me full MSRP...kept mentioning one of kind and high demand model with great resale...but now reading here that some options can't be selected and you're stuck with a pre-configured option list...no thanks.

Looks great and all, but given the 2021s had already lost some options I wanted, wasn't about to lose more with this edition. I'm sure there will be more special editions later on.
Totally hear ya. For what it's worth, in the end you're able to configure the vehicle with pretty much anything you want. I asked for mine to be fully loaded, and the only thing they wouldn't let me put on is the tow hitch.

Well, mine just entered production. Still don't have a deal with my dealer on it. Got a VIN too.

Yes, robbys3m3 very interested, you mean it showed up to the dealer? Did you see it in person?

Yes at the dealer. My dealer I buy from is actually in Missouri (I'm in OK) so I won't be seeing it in person unfortunately.

Very cool, thanks robbys3m3 . Any chance there's more pictures, particularly of the interior of the 1st and 2nd rows and dashboard?

Did we ever figure out if we can get rear seat entertainment on this package? Want to buy an X7 but not being able to order RSE is currently a deal breaker for me

Currently listed as standard equipment in my Dark Shadow build. Also on my build sheet, option 6FH, consistent with previous model years.

Would like to hear if robbys3m3 build showed up with it.

Found another fine print quirk about the Dark Shadow. My build sheet includes feature "8TR, Decoding additional functions". BMW has included this before on certain vehicles, inhibiting certain functions. An example is this on the Donnington Grey X5 models, inhibiting automatic lane change.

Might have to see if any functions are missing from Dark Shadow models, such as if the matte paint does interfere with certain radar-based functions.

Found a Dark Shadow build that a dealer says is incoming to them.

Basic build, doesn't look like they've added anything to it. Here's their basic build sheet pics:

Finally! First real pics or video of a Dark Shadow model that aren't BMW press photos. Of the Dark Shadow in BMW Welt. Looks pretty sexy, IMHO. You can see the purple hues in the matte Arctic Grey paint at times. Wish the camera was a little more clear on the interior parts. Some things I notice:

- Rear Entertainment shown
- Because it has been in BMW Welt for a month or more, this is likely a pre-production model, but still, as a MY2021 it DOES have both Auto Start/Stop OFF and Eco Pro buttons
- Similarly, volume knob also in crystal
- Standard "M50i" illuminated door sills. I would have expected something unique to Dark Shadow
- Still don't know how I feel about the combo of the black wood w/aluminum inserts, and piano black trims.
- Still don't know how I feel about the black and blue leathers, but think they're nice, at a minimum.

All in all it’s a win with the RES but I agree the mixed interior trim is a odd choice. I think all piano lacquer would have looked more upscale and just cleaner. Why no black exterior badges???

Perhaps that's intentional so as not to clash with the matte paint?

Can't say I disagree. And yeah... really? Cerium badges with an all dark grey/black vehicle? Why make the only thing that's cerium on the car the badges?

Meh ..too trendy for me. I’d rather have exclusive paint if I wanted to be different. To each his/her own.

After seeing the videos this is a no for me... it strikes me as a confused vehicle that's having a hard time making up it's mind on what it wants to be...like it's going through an identity crisis.

Aspects of it are cool but then you mix all those aspects together as it does and it's a hot mess of randomness.
