I'm going broke! --> Winter Tires/Wheels

Ok, not really, but really...$2600! Just bought my winter tires for the X7 and I don't even own it yet. It should arrive at the end of Nov.

I went with 22" wheels, so yes it's my own doing. I just couldn't get past the looks of the 21" wheel when compared to the 22", but also not a big fan of the cerium gray on the 22s. Again, BMW having a perfect wheel for the M50i / EST, but not offering it as an option.

So, I already decided I would do dedicated snow and summer tires for this vehicle. Really wanted to stick with BMW 22" wheels for winter, but can't find a set for a reasonable price yet. Now I'm looking for aftermarket options.

Any recommendations or feedback from someone who has also gone this route.

I bought third party rims from tirerack with tires installed on them and I love them so far. Tires were staggered setup with 315 on the back and 275 on front just like the original ones installed, the tires are pirelli scorpion winter and so far very pleased with them.

Smart move considering that there are limited sets out there and once sold out they will not go into production until February 2021. I purchased an installed this past week despite having a mild autumn so far. Better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them. Secondly, $2600 is a small price to pay for safety and not being a risk to your passengers, others on the road or yourself.

I'm holding off buying my BMW OEM winter wheel and tire set until I know whether I'll be taking delivery in Alaska, or the lower 48. My dealer just can't get things sorted out. I'll be pissed if by the time they get their act together, BMW has sold out of sets for the year. Right now the set I want is still available.

If you're definitely purchasing the car then just buy the set before sold out.

First of all, my local Discount Tire rep recommended I buy them now for the reason they might sell out. I wasn’t even thinking that so kudos to them. I’ve bought all my tires from them over the years and they have been great.
He was trying to find a set of wheels for me as well, but said to get the tires now just in case.

Agree, $2600 is nothing when it comes to safety hence the reason I’m going with separate winter tires this time. Getting the pirelli scorpions as well, stock size. Hard to find, almost sold out everywhere especially the rear 315s.

Thinking about getting the Vossen HF-2s and using them in the summer and leaving the oem 22s for the winter.

I worked in a oem set of winter 21” black 752 wheels when I purchased my X7 M50i. It’s written in as a factory option on my sales slip.

Thanks to someone from here on another thread, I went to TIRE RACK website. Plugged in my BMW. Bought all seasons that fit my 22" rims and had them shipped to my dealer. Dealer was very helpful and even said 'just order them from Tire Rack' and have them shipped here to his name!

They are sitting at the dealer now waiting for me to have the time to swap them out. Dealer quoted $150 for the swap with TPM and balancing. Didn't seem to bad to me.

what all-season tires did you get that fit the staggered 22s? I've been told nobody makes an all-season in the rear tire size; 315/35/r22

did you get a square setup where all tires are the same size?

My link goes right to the tire.

But anyway, just plug in your make and model. Then select winter tire. You can get the staggered duels that fit your stock rims.

For me it was easy. I have almost 20,000 miles on my stock tires. I will put these on and toss the old ones.

Oh. I got those too. You said all-season tires...these are winter and snow, but you could run them all year long if you wanted.

I plan to swap back and forth until I find some 22 wheels to buy. Then I’ll be able to swap the wheels myself. If you have a discount tire near you check with them...they are only charging me $84 to swap out all 4 tires.

You can purchase 3615600 Pirelli P-Zero All Season A/S but you should really do a dedicated set for Winter and a dedicated set for Summer. You get the most out of each set for each season and you will not have to revisit a tire purchase for some time. There are many videos highlighting the benefits of each.

Yeah, my issue is, if I'm taking delivery in Alaska, I'll want them shipped here. If taking delivery in the lower 48, I may need them delivered there, to do some winter driving, particularly if I'm going to drive some winter roads on the way back to Alaska.

Interesting. Those are the exact winter tire sets I'm looking to buy. Any tricks to getting that worked into your purchase deal, without jacking up total cost with an extra premium on top of the tire set cost?
