21" Snow tires

I know it's the end of the snow season in the north and most are thinking about summer tires, but if you are looking to save a few $ on a set for next season, Tire Rack is closing out a 2018 production batch of Blizzaks. I've purchased NOS from them before and given it's stored out of sunlight in their warehouse I feel very comfortable running these at a significant discount to new.

PS...if anyone is looking to sell their 754m, pm me

The only problem I have them is that you cant put chains on 21” tires

but thats freakin cheap. Any reason we should not consider 2018 tires? I am gonna go for it. It only says 8 in stock. I gotta decide soon.

I pulled the trigger last night and they can sit in my basement. There is some argument that 3.5-4.5 year old tires may have started to harden a bit, but as long as they were not exposed to sunlight...doubt they were, blizzaks tend to run really soft anyhow. If I can get 2-3 seasons, that will put them at the 7-8 yr old mark, which is well within the old school 10 yr old timeframe. For less than $700 for a set, I would be super pleased if I get two season :>). Again...this is just my thought, not a recommendation.

Here is some related reading on the subject...

For anyone considering, I received the tires today. All stamped 4418 and 4618. Under $680 shipped for Blizzak RFTs, including tax and tire rack's road hazard warranty.

Thats a great deal! I paid $960 or so for a set of 19 in blizzaks. I think you will hve good results even if they are old plus you have a warranty. What are the stamps indicating??

Agree. They look clean and feel and smell new. No discoloration from storage, etc. The stamps are the DOT production date codes found on all tires. In this example 44th and 46th week of 2018...even the Bridgestone Label says for BMW X7

If you need chains, try some snow socks/auto socks. They are accepted in most places that require chains.

Yeah thought about that as well. But I also want to be prepared for worst case in case I get stuck, where snow chains will perform much better than socks. For roads, yeah socks is good enough. With AWD and snow tires, I doubt I would ever need to use them, but just being prepared for “Just in case” situation
