Cool, thanks, JayPichardo ! That kind of stuff has been asked for by members here.
I see the climate control is configurable, but how about the other two apps? i.e. when you say that "Vitalize" will play upbeat music, how is that music selected, or what source does that come from? In those two apps, choosing "moods", can I select which functions it does? I'd love to have "relax" do certain things, and play certain music of my choosing. |

The climate control is probably the only one I would use, except that I live in Texas and the max outside temp I can set for seat ventilation is 65F! Maybe that's considered hot in Germany, but down here that's downright chilly. It would also be nice if each of the levels could be set for different temperatures; ie. L1 at 75, L2 at 85, L3 at 90+. I also wonder if manual adjustments override the auto settings. I usually only use L3 for an initial cool down. Once the inside has cooled off I normally switch to L2 or L1, because L3 is so loud.

How do you tell you got the new update?
I still have the old 11.2018 software update on my idrive. Does that update to the new version - when I search, there says no updates available from remote software update.

My car had these 3 apps when I picked it up. Did some not have them already?

Depends when your X7 was built, mine was built in December and has a software version of 11/2018.55 but it does not include the three new apps mentioned above. I called the service department and scheduled a software update to the latest version this Friday. I'll post if it includes the new apps or at least allows me to download them.

Apple itself is releasing a CarPlay update. Just heard about it at WWDC this week. Not sure when it will make it to BMW but hopefully that should help with additional stability.

As mentioned by assassin, iOS 13 will have an updated revision of CarPlay which will hopefully make it more stable but will also make the screen more functional. I attached an image below, you can also google "iOS 13 CarPlay" for more images.

Slightly out of left field for this thread but I assume my F90 2019 M5 Comp won't get these since it doesn't have iDrive 7--is that correct? That said, I can already do the A/C rules but the other apps and the potential for future apps has piqued my curiosity.

Dont lose sleep over it, my bet is BMW does a handful of minor incremental updates to iDrive 7, adds a bunch of apps which most people won't find to be more than fluff, then they'll be on to iDrive 8 development. Right now the one app I want to see is Android Auto. It's ridiculous BMW is holding out. They're the last major without AA support. Will it ever appear on iDrive 7?

The vehicle manufacturers get to build the house it runs in and how the phone connects to it...and then Apple calls the rest of the shots. BMW requires Bluetooth and WiFi simultaneously but some other manufacturers use a combination of Bluetooth and tethered or just tethered etc etc. Almost alll of the iDrive CarPlay issues are due to BMW'S connectivity implementation. |
