Ya I was surprised when it came on. I always operate under the assumption that none of the alerts work. Safer that way haha

Tried Rear Cross traffic alert at the dealer today. The CA was with me and concurred that it was not working. They will send the car to the service and a tech guy will test it tomorrow as well. I will keep everyone posted. It's an important feature which is standard on X5 and X7 and i think it's worth figuring out why it's not working.

The car has to be "creeping" backwards. It will do nothing if you just sit there.

Received an email from CA with whom I test drove X7 to test Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Was informed that a technician from higher up came and test drove 2 X7s and neither had the system working. They will investigate and let me know. I'm not really hopeful that I will hear something soon. For now I just assume that Rear Cross traffic probably does not work. Starting to think about moving on to another brand, even though I really like X7.
