Coding

Hi, it's a pleasure to be a member of this form.

I am a proud owner of my 2019 BMW X7 and a previous owner of BMW Active Hybrid 7

I bought a Carly adapter and a subscription but when I used it it's not giving me any coding options and I contacted them and this was their reply "The possible encodings always depend on the software version of your ECUs.
If your car has been in the workshop recently or if it is a new car, your ECUs may have received a software update"

any one had recently coded his X7 and how?

Carly is terrible, it only shows the alarm module. I contacted them and their response was terrible, basically telling me what I knew. I wasted my money.

I purchased Bimmercode and Bimmerlink along with the Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0 OBDII Bluetooth connector. They have done fine and the apps are a one time purchase while Carly is an annual subscription. I am a novice at coding but Bimmercode is easy to use and my coding thus far has been uneventful. The entire cost was under $100.

+1 to the folks regarding Carly. I use it on my E46 M3 (fairly good coverage), but totally useless for the X7. I emailed then and basically got the response that the functionality was extremely limited. I switched to Bimmercode with the hardwired connection and it works well in both the simplified/novice mode and the expert mode.

I had somebody from this forum code for me remotely. The following changes were made.

- anti dazzle headlights
- remember auto start off
- the center consul now shows road preview
- psi and temp for all tires
- fogs with brights (this can't be used in conjuction with anti dazzle)
- video in motion

I think that was about it.

How do you use the video in motion?

I coded video in motion with bimmercode on mine. It is great for the kids although you will spend the rest of the day humming the Frozen soundtrack in your head.

Works the same way as it does in park, it basically just removes the speed restriction that would pop up a disclaimer about the feature only being available when the car is not... in motion.

I can use it with Google maps using screen share now.

A nice feature until bmw releases Android auto. I'm not watching movies driving down the road.

That could be a good use case but I don't think screen sharing works with Apple devices.
