Doubt it. Jaguar Land Rover sales reps aren't going to be saying "hey, this Range Rover is now powered by a BMW engine!" like that's supposed to help sales. On the flip side, IYKYK and ain't no BMW engine going to help save the rest of the car. We can laugh and joke about German reliability but the entire Range Rover brand embodies what s--t reliability is.

This is anecdotal, but no one I know buys a Range Rover because they want a Range Rover. They do it because they can make easy money buy transferring their lease after 6-8 months.
I would assume people are leasing higher end BMWs at the same rate as Range Rover. I was simply pointing out the design of the new Range Rover over the X7. At least around where I live, Range Rovers are considered pretty highly among luxury SUV buyers. I guess, it all depends where you live, demographics etc etc. I can't think of anyone who buys a Range Rover because of the reason you stated.

So now that this is leaked, I want to see a lot more angles and the different trims. Who has a good idea of when the official reveal will be. It has to be very soon.

Audi somehow seems to get it right more often than not. Heck even Kia/Hyundai/Genesis are making serious design noise these days.
It doesn't "have" to grow on you. BMW wants to push the limits on design, and some may like it some may not and that's okay. There are brands that take design changes conservatively, some go bold, others somewhere in between - it's a great thing for consumers, choose what you like.

There will be 1st year iDrive 8 issues that has not even happened yet. It’s just the way BMW tech works. I and a few others practically worked on the G05 forum for the first year figuring out issues and sorting through multiple firmware updates. I have hours working with higher up BMW technicians over the phone trying to fix issue before the next firmware update.

2019 the G05/G07 came out in ideal manufacturing conditions and they were still buggy as hell. Now BMW can’t even build the current vehicles with the parts shortages. This is a perfect storm. Just look at the new S-Class release in these conditions, it’s a train wreck of highly compromised vehicles on the dealers lot.
I think mystro as usual is spot on. This change is way too soon for the x7. X5 is getting new engines and lci in April 23. And x5 came out before x7. Why rush x7? Its the best big suv on the market now especially with m50 trim and great v8

I agree - it will be a rush to buy current my22s. m50s especially.
Way to go to kill a nice car.
Ugly face
Ipad stuck to the dash
Hybrid engine- the worst one-of the three

No one asked for a hybrid to replace a great v8. They should have made a separate hybrid model to satisfy green party. Now they are going to throw a ton of weight on a great car to gain maybe 30 miles of electric range if driven like a grandma.. the weight will ruin the handling. And the complexity will decrease reliability. Look at issues with 45e x5
Im particularly sad for m models. X5m and m5 are going to suffer the most. Buy one now.

Hybrid to replace a great value? Am i missing something? X7 is getting hybrid (plug in?)? That would be great for me, but I think it is happening.

The funny thing is that people say Jeep started this and they did with the Cherokee or whatever it was but they continue to do this with the new Grand Cherokee. Obviously they didn't like the look that much, either, to try it on one of their best selling model.

Like I said anecdotal. That's not to say everyone does it, I'm sure some people like Range Rovers for whatever reason but everyone I know gets into a Range Rover because it's a quick and easy way to make a couple of thousand if not more. Everything that is said about German cars, Jaguar Land Rover cars are infinitely worse.

But to each their own. Not criticizing anyone because I'm sure there are thousands of other people saying that exact same about owners who drive German cars.

All engines on the X7 line are getting "mild 48V hybrid".

This one i know. Not sure how this fact relates to the comment "No one asked for a hybrid to replace a great v8.". How mild hybrid replaces a great V8 is beyond my comprehension.

I think the confusion comes from the fact your post makes no sense. The V8 isn't going away…. It's being upgraded and having a mild hybrid assist added

Anyone know if G05 will get the same split headlights for the LCI?

I personally think the existing X7 has one of the best looking headlights in the entire lineup. It’s a shame they’re drastically changing them versus making some minor cosmetic changes while maintaining the overall look.

EDIT: (Full-) Hybrids add 600-800lbs of weight (using X5 40i curb weight vs X5 45e curb weight numbers). I've never driven an X5 45e and compared it to the 40i or 50i to see how the weight affects the driving dynamics and comfort.
I'm tempted to think that BMW will probably have this figured out and there's no substantial difference in ride between the V8 and the V8+48V MH. So technically you're still getting a great V8 with a bit more pep off the line at red lights.

Overall, I have to agree with most here and by process of napkin math I would say that BMW will be successful overall with their exterior design language. There is a good number of people who say they like it, a reasonable number of people who say they don't like or hate it, and only a few saying they hate it. So that leads me to believe majority will like it. I too like it actually but am happy I got 2.5 years of lease left to observe how the new LCI matures before making the next decision!
I am more concerned with the interior of the vehicle - while I don't hate the bigger idrive 8 screen, it certainly seems less fluid with the remaining interior design. I am sure that BMW will realize just like Mercedes with the S class launch that capacitative touch buttons everywhere make people rather frustrated. Yet the whole industry is moving there…

The mild hybrid adds nowhere near that much weight, you are confusing it with the plug in hybrid implementation. PHEV, Much bigger motor and much bigger batteries. The plug ins can drive on ev only at highway speeds and for ~30miles. As far as the inside info we have, x7 is getting no plug in option this generation.

So much misinformation and confusion out there from those commenting without doing detailed research… everyone in such a hurry to get their "get off my lawn" post up.

The mild hybrids have a small battery and small motor to help the car start rolling during ASS restart as well as a small torque boost during turbo spool up and full throttle. Negligible impact on weight. Today every 40i B58 bmw sells already has the mild hybrid setup including x7 40i, all that is happening is the system is being added to the new v8 and possibly being upgraded to generate more boost
