It's 100 degrees here, so it's not something that is operating. I'll advise on the system and it's refinement. I know auto start/stop annoys a lot of people, but it has never bothered me, and I believe with the 48V system, it should be much smoother. That said, in the peak of Summer, these systems turn off. I'll report back if I see it working, but through the UI I haven't seen a setting to enable or disable it, but I haven't gone looking for one either.

My wife and I both added using the VIN. I think there was a part where you have to be in the car to fully pair it to the app.

Also, the remote features (remote start and video) require acknowledgment in the car before they can be used. The acknowledgment is profile specific, so you will both have to do that.
Does Remote functions also include remote park? It's shown in owners manual, but not yet confirmed it's available.

I don't believe so, it's integrated with the other LED lights around the doors and center console. It is separate from the tamer mood lighting that is more of an indirect lighting effect.

I haven't been brave enough to record a parking path, but I will try in the next few days. Is your question whether we could use our phone remotely to (for example) back the car out of the garage on a recorded park profile?

All bmws with either gen 1 (40i 3,5,x3,x5) or the new gen 2 (40i and 60i 7 and x7) mild hybrid no longer have auto stop start off button nor a way to disable in software for comfort and eco-pro modes. Sport mode still deactivates stop start.

A fault code exists in the Drivers Assistance package and BMW Corp said to replace the radar module which has a month lead time. No visible errors in the car, but it shows up on the dealer diagnostics. Despite warnings, radar cruise control and lane keep worked on the drive home. It will go back once the module arrives; I'm not sure anything is wrong.

The car is great, but wow, the iDrive 8 learning curve is steep. So many settings, but it is feeling intuitive after ~30 minutes of playing around. The hard buttons around the controller are awesome and give easy access to anything you want. The custom-ability is huge, I've been able to do things I always expect in my cars like mixing sources for Audio Favorites (e.g. local FM + Sirius in the same favorites menu). You'd be surprised how few vehicles do this. Finally, the CarPlay integration is the best I've ever seen, it just mates so perfectly with hard buttons adapting to CarPlay.

Marina Bay Blue is a head turner, just WOW. The sparkles in the sun light are intense, this car has multiple moods, the dealer CA told me how many people stopped to check it out. Our friends came over for dinner tonight and they were blown away by the color, and once we let them inside, the interior screens blew them away. This color is an absolute stunner!

Despite concerns the ventilated seats would be a gimmick, I swear I felt cold air coming through. With the A/C on, they exceeded my expectations. That said, coming from a recent Cadillac rental I returned last Sunday that pipes "real cold air", you can tell the difference, but with it being 102F today, when the A/C is running it actually feels like "cool not cold" air hitting you.

Driving home, I noticed my RPM was limited to 4500rpm which isn't an issue, but when you put it into Sport Plus, it seems the car wants to go that high. I thought it was a setting, but deep in the bowels of menus I discovered the car has a 250 mile break-in period where it told me full RPM/power would be available in ~230'ish miles.

I've come across a few menus that leave some to be desired which I'll catalog in subsequent posts, but here's the pic dump.

Consider this an AMA! Subsequent posts will cover some early snags I've run into...

Is the chrome strip that is left (and not blacked out w the extended shadow line) part of the reverse lights or brake lights? Does it illuminate at all? Or is it just chrome wrapped in glass? We are blacking out our entire x7 with a stealth ppf wrap and that certainly will take away from the blacked out look. Thanks so much!

No. Just chrome covered with glass. Does not light up.

I noticed you did not have the M badging on the side vent as seen in the press release photos.

Was there an option to remove it or am I missing something?

That badge is NOT available on US models. No idea why, but apparently there's a story about US people not liking excessive badging. Humbly, I wish it had that, but it's NOT a thing on US models. I'm not sure if it's an easy accessory to purchase and install or not.

Could you effectively just get to a stop light and put it into sport mode to avoid going off? My prior ride had a separate battery for that function/process and it burned out twice in 3 years causing my main battery to drain. My view is to avoid as many stop starts because it’s just causing more wear and tear so if I need to be I sport plus mode indefinitely, so be it.

That would work, but that will also cause your suspension height to change, your dash to change, the lights to change, maybe even increase your idle, then you have to remember to hit Comfort again. I'm excited to see how smooth the start/stop is with the 48V system. Our previous SUV, 2016 XC90 had a traditional start/stop, it never bugged me, but you could really feel it engage, my expectation of this car is a lot higher.

It's worth noting, and you can actually hear it slightly in my previously uploaded exhaust sound video on the second start, but when you start this car, you almost can't feel or hear anything. You hear the exhaust in a delayed capacity but you don't really feel anything cranking. It's so gentle, I think that's a byproduct of the improved starting capabilities of these modern powertrains. That said, I definitely need more time with it. Hopefully I can take the car out one morning when it's not offensively hot and see if the Start/Stop system will function.

Yup, exactly! This is what's shown in the owners manual, but not sure if available in US.

No idea, they gave me the bracket, but I generally don't rock front plates. I may get a removable plate bracket that's drill-less. I'll defer to others on this one.

You live in Texas, we don’t like rocking out plates in front with nice cars 😂

Technically they changed the law some 15 years ago to require it, but I've generally not ran plates. I have a strong opinion that license plates in the front negate any and all benefit of 5 mph bumpers for both cars.

You are correct! It is on the Canadian models thankfully. Beautiful spec btw.

U235, what was your prod date,

did it change, and how long before it arrived at the dealer?

I ordered very close to the same build as you.

Original prod date was 08/02, then it moved to 07/30, then it changed to 08/01 despite being done on 07/31. It say for a while "awaiting carrier" then shifted on Wednesday to en route, arrived at the dealer Saturday morning. I should've got it Monday but there was a snafu with the radar module which is yet to be resolved but works perfectly.

If you share your key via the Wallet app it just becomes a new key that is not linked to your profile and will default to Guest profile by default. Your wife will need to register a BMW ID to create her own profile though.
