X5 Cold Air Intake
Wanted to share my new bling. I made a custom Cold Air Intake for my X5 (to compliment the Intercooler I made) and finally got around to adding Methanol Injection as well. I have a Stage 3 BPC Tune.
I am planning to add a shroud to help with potential heat soaking due to the location of the filter, but the sounds it makes are fantastic!

Nice work. I was considering doing something similar.
Do you mind posting a parts list for the intake and also intercooler?

If its within engine bay it considered a WAI (warm air intake)! It has to be out of the engine bay compartment to be CAI. Nice idea tho, very different and innovative!) Im not sure what brand of the filter but it looks cheap and most likely very restrictive! (dont get me wrong here, im NOT hating, just dealt with lots of those when starting to modify cars years ago)

The stock filter sucks in cold air top front of the radiator.
Plus the stock filter element is big and on my filter minder, even a dirty filter didn't register much restriction! To get that whoosh sound on stock you could disconnect the pipe that goes from the front to the airbox. I do that in winter so the engine takes in warmer air. The 335d on the other hand has a small stock filter and gains from a cone one. |
