tunes in this range (crank over 500hp) will swing a good 30-40hp, sometimes more, just for the difference between 91 and 93 octane. I wouldn't be surprised if your car was adjusting a bit more aggressive with a more stable fuel

I haven't accumulated enough miles on my X7 to comment on it, but my experiences with my Lexus SUVs (1 GX470 and 2 LX570s) is that tooling around town at 40mph never seemed to make much difference in fuel economy, but at expressway speed of 70 mph, there was a noticeable drop of about 2-3 mpg.
With both my X7 and G550 being turbos, I don't try to economize. I fill-up only once a month, and with 91 octane costing about $.50 more per gallon, I don't worry about the $10/tankful. |
