We are getting close to ordering / purchasing an X7 40i. My wife LOVES the Silverstone interior on her X5 45e and wants to do the same interior on the X7. With that said, she has aluminum trim on the X5, which is not an option for the X7. I had originally picked fine line black wood, but then saw some pictures of the brown poplar and think it looks very nice!

Typically my wife is not a fan of brown in general, but the matte poplar looks almost gray in color and blends well. Thoughts?

Ha you saw that?! I’m guessing whatever dealership this is likes to leave a stamp. Haha!

Matte poplar is definitely more dark gray than brown, it's really nice in person. The fineline is high gloss and definitely doesn't look as luxurious.

Yeah, I have it over tartufo. Depends on the light, if it's sunny it's more brown, if it's cloudy it's more grey. Really much prefer it to any of the gloss options.

Adding a vote for poplar; we have it with black leather and it looks great and we love it. Also really like that it’s not glossy as we have little ones; one less area for fingerprints and mess. As others have noted, it has gray tones it.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like I made a good choice with poplar. I was able to pick up an order from someone who had backed out…it was too late to change specs as car just started production.

We had brown poplar on our X5 with black- a bit dark. Seemed more like metal than wood - but basically indestructible. On our X7 went with fineline open poor wood with grey/white seats. I think you’ll be happy with the look.

The wood trims are real wood, they are impregnated with resin to make them splinter proof in a crash. It's very very dense.
I scuffed an edge of one of the door trim pieces doing a speaker upgrade, it's light blonde wood under the stain. Amusingly I used a furniture wood stain pen to touch it up.
