What is this part?

When trying to take a few pix of the diff, I noticed this part bolted to the frame. Curious about what it is/does. Oddly, there isn't one on the Chris Harris test car (2nd pic).

It's probably missing from the Chris Harris image because they're in the process of installing the diff, and the block in question seems to be over some of the mounting hardware for the diff.

Indeed. It sits between the diff casing and cross member.
